About the Role
Reporting to LexisNexis' Head of Legal, North America, this role is part of our global team of commercial lawyers and professionals, working collaboratively with stakeholders from all functional areas in the business, in the preparation, review and negotiation of contracts, and the provision of legal advice to the various LexisNexis business units. Remote/Hybrid work environment
Responsibilities:
- Prepare, review, and negotiate a variety of legal contracts and commercial agreements;
- Provide legal advice on a variety of practice areas, including, but not limited to, corporate, commercial, data security, intellectual property, licensing, litigation, procurement and mergers & acquisitions;
- Proactively manage risk through training and coaching of business partners, as well as through implementation of efficient contract governance processes;
- Succinctly and effectively communicate legal issues to business clients;
- Effectively integrate legal and business knowledge to develop practical business solutions;
- Keep up-to-date with developments and changes in laws and regulations affecting our business; and
- Support the development of the legal department's goals and strategies.
Requirements:
- Juris Doctorate, and licensed to practice law in a State in the United States;
- 1-4 years' experience in either an in-house legal department or law firm;
- Excellent judgment and analytical skills, with the ability to assess risk and provide practical advice;
- Experience in general corporate/commercial legal areas;
- Ability and interest to learn and adapt to change and new technologies and to work independently in a fast-paced business environment; and
- Strong ability to communicate and maintain effective relationships across the business.
