Company Overview

Pint Size Hawaii is a rapidly growing food distribution company specializing in frozen, chill, and dry food products. We pride ourselves on delivering high quality goods to our diverse customer base. We’re currently seeking a motivated and detail-oriented professional to join our team as a Buyer and Freight Management Specialist.

Position Overview

As a buyer you will play a crucial role in ensuring efficient procurement of a wide range of food products from multiple suppliers. This position purchases finished goods from various vendors for resale basing selection and quantities using current and future demand, on-hand stock, lead time, trends, and experience. The selected individual must have a keen understanding of the food industry and requires excellent negotiation skills. You must also manage freight associated with the transportation of products to our warehouse based on current standards. The successful candidate will be responsible for meeting internal inventory goals to maintain optimal stock levels and uphold the company’s commitment to customer satisfaction.

A qualified employee must possess skills as outlined below. In addition, minimum performance and knowledge requirements are necessary to pass the probationary period. The function of the Buyer will be performed under little or no supervision, in a timely manner and with acceptable quality.

Essential Job Functions:

· Supplier Relationship Management

o Build and maintain strong relationships with suppliers.

o Negotiate pricing, terms, and conditions to secure favorable agreements.

· Inventory Replenishment and Management

o Determine order quantities with the use of various Excel spreadsheets and system reports.

o Assist with Neighbor Island warehouse inventory with order and transfer suggestions.

o Minimize outdated product write-offs while maintaining high on hand goals.

o Maintain standard weeks on hand and inventory turns based on internal goals.

o Research and manage new product sourcing, discontinued products, and product change processes.

o Product ranking and performance analysis.

· Logistics

o Coordinate and optimize inbound and outbound freight including Stop-in-Transit (SIT) and Direct container loads.

o Collaborate with freight carriers to negotiate rates and secure cost-effective shipping solutions.

o Implement efficient freight management strategies to minimize costs and ensure timely deliveries.

o Review incoming and outbound freight, carrier, and freight forwarder charges for accuracy.

· Other job functions

o Ability to create and maintain standard processes related to product setup, purchase order creation and freight management.

o Ability to use Office 365 products with at least intermediate knowledge of Excel.

o Participate in departmental planning.

o Backup relief for assistant buyers.

o Maintain files and records.

o Assist with physical inventory counts and reconciliation.

o Provide training and mentoring to subordinate staff as required.

o Conduct market research to identify new suppliers, products and opportunities.

Supervisory Responsibilities

This job may require you to supervise and train subordinate staff members.

Qualifications

· Bachelor’s degree in Business, Supply Chain Management, or a related field.

· Proven experience in procurement or supply chain management, preferably in the food industry.

· Strong negotiation skills with the ability to build and maintain vendor/supplier relationships.

· Excellent communication and organizational skills.

· Ability to analyze data and generate meaningful reports.

· Results-oriented and proactive in meeting KPI goals

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $40,000.00 - $50,000.00 per year
