The Family Resource Center is seeking an ECE Center Assistant Director. This is a full-time (1.00 FTE), 12-month, professional faculty position.
The Family Resource Center ( FRC) Early Care and Education ( ECE) Center Assistant Director is responsible for supporting the overall management and coordination of the Azalea ECE Center, an 80 slot, high-quality, campus-based early care and education program on the Corvallis campus. This position requires specialized education, skills, and training to administer and lead early care and education (serving children birth to 5) and family programing, service efforts, and related initiatives. The Assistant Director supports the Center Director by providing leadership and supervision in several areas of the day-to-day ECE operations. Major areas include: ECE enrollment, health and safety policies/procedures compliance, staff scheduling, monitor tracking and ensure all staff are compliant in training requirements, completes training requirements for Center Directors. Manage center in Director's absence.

- Ensure staff meet Oregon Child Care rules regarding minimum qualifications and ongoing education/ORO training management-monitor and track all staff's training hours and ensure that all staff meet minimum 5-Star rating requirements
- Completes the training hours that are required for Directors by state regulations and maintain Director-Qualified status
- Assists with the management of staff scheduling. Manages the day-to-day scheduling concerns, by ensuring coverage for teacher's lunch/breaks schedules and finding substitutes when staff are absent. Emergency coverage to keep classrooms in ratio- including covering for teacher's bathroom breaks.
- Oversees program quality, assesses program quality through regular classroom and teacher observation. Provides balanced, constructive feedback at regular intervals, mentors teachers, acknowledging successful outcomes, and promptly addresses suboptimal performance.
- Partner with Director to develop and deliver staff meeting agendas and in-service trainings that will be beneficial and further the development of the staff
- Promotes OSU's Campus ECE image as a high-quality early care and education center
- Partner with Director to ensure Admin coverage at the center from open to close
- Confers with Director and teaching staff regarding children's behaviors, learning needs, recommends strategies to support the growth and development of all children
- Emergency support if an incident of a child needing medical attention
- Monthly Menus/ food ordering, Kitchen manager/daily snack prep/ Dishes
- Helps coordinate the daily operation of the center to meet all health, safety, licensing and accreditation standards
- Maintain child records in adherence to DELC licensing requirements- inclusive of Child Immunization overview/records management, allergy management, file management.
- Work as lead for project work- i.e., Spark and NAEYC accreditation
- Monitor that all health and safety policies and procedures are being followed (crib inspections, sleep check compliance, occurrence report tracking, transition tracking compliance, first aid kit maintenance, bottle check compliance, etc.)
- Assist with managing waitlist for center enrollment
- Assist the Director with monthly Newsletter
- Assist with monthly safety drills-fire drills and other monthly drills
- Confers with families regarding facility policies, and enrollment procedures
- Be present to support Director with potential difficult conversations with both staff and families
- Ability to fill in during any staff absences, inclusive of assisting with food prep and kitchen management
- BS or BA in Human Development, Child Development, Early Childhood Education or related field by start date.
- 2+ years' experience as a program administrator (Assistant Director, Lead Teacher, Education Coordinator, etc.) in a licensed early care and education setting responsible for management and supervision of adults.
- 1+ year of experience in a birth to three ECE program
- Demonstrable contributions to promoting and enhancing diversity in early care and education.
- Effective verbal and written communication.
- Must be enrolled in the Oregon's Office of Child Care Central Background Registry by time of appointment.
- Master's degree in Child Development, Early Childhood Education, Early Childhood Special Education, Human Development & Family Sciences, or related field.
- 3+ years a program administrator in a licensed early care and education setting responsible for management and supervision of adults.
- 3+ years of experience in birth to three ECE program
- Experience with ECE quality assurance and program accreditation.
- Experience teaching or working with children who have special developmental needs.
- Experience in advising or mentoring students in post-secondary education or career services
