JOB SUMMARY:
The Coordinator ofPeer Support & Gateway Services at Bellefaire JCB, is a position embedded within the Unsheltered, Missing, & Transitional Youth Services Department. Operating within the broader Division of Community Services, the Coordinator ofPeer Support & Gateway Services will oversee and deliver certified support services to community youth who are recognized to benefit from a positive working relationship with someone that has lived experience. Further, this professional will oversee and deliver Gateway Services at Bellefaire JCB, which entails providing food, clothing, hygiene, and other basic need items to youth and families in crisis. The position will intermittently require the management of other staff and interns engaged in these activities. The Coordinator ofPeer Support & Gateway Services will report directly to the Clinical Director of the Department of Unsheltered, Missing, and Transitional Youth Services.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES:
- Oversee and contribute to Peer Support activities within the Department of Unsheltered, Missing, and Transitional Youth Services, as well as across the Division of Community Services.
- Oversee and contribute to gateway service provision within the Department of Unsheltered, Missing, and Transitional Youth Services, as well as across the Division of Community Services.
- Participate in hiring, training, and supervising other Peer Support Specialists across the Division of Community Services as needed.
- Serve as the primary party responsible for maintaining the 24/7 crisis hotline for Basic Center activities within the Department of Unsheltered, Missing, and Transitional Youth Services. Act as a support to callers in need and respond or coordinate a response as necessary.
- Participate in “Drop-In Centers” regularly as a representative of Bellefaire’s Unsheltered and Missing Youth Services—interfacing with youth and families in need of gateway and other services.
- Provide essential transportation services to youth in Bellfaire’s host homes and the broader community as needed.
- Support direct community outreach services for unsheltered and missing youth in accordance with Bellefaire’s Street Outreach Grant.
- Participate in hiring, supervision, and coordination of Peer Support staff as needed.
OTHER DUTIES:
- Maintain awareness of industry trends and professional knowledge by attending outside Agency meetings, establishing personal networks and reviewing professional publications.
- Attend scheduled staff meetings, supervision, and on-going training.
- All required trainings, certifications and licensure must be kept current in accordance with applicable licensing and accreditation regulations and standards
- Contribute to the development and maintenance of the clinical record through the timely completion of assigned documentation in accordance with applicable licensing and accreditation regulations and standards.
- Respect the privacy of clients and hold in confidence all information obtained during the client’s treatment. All client-related documents should be handled in accordance with Agency guidelines on confidential material.
- Maintain high standards of ethical and professional conduct and adhere to Agency policies and procedures.
- Other duties as assigned by management.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Education: Minimum high school degree or GED required. Some College coursework or College degree preferred.
- Licensure: None. Candidate must achieve Peer Support Specialist certification.
- Skills: Ability to deal with crisis situations which require prompt decision and action.
- Proven supervisory skills.
- Sensitivity in relating to persons of varying backgrounds and demonstrate ability to work with diverse groups of people possessing various strengths, aptitudes and abilities.
- Ability to perform job responsibilities with a high degree of initiative and independent judgment.
- Demonstrated oral and written communication skills and effective interpersonal skills.
- Proficiency in using Agency computer systems and software as required to perform essential job functions.
- Practical and creative problem solving skills.
- Experience: Experience working with children, adolescents, and their families required.
Previous experience with mental health and developmental disabilities preferred.
