Position Description
POSITION TITLE: Coordinator, Government Affairs
REPORTS TO: Senior Director, Regulatory Affairs, Government Affairs
SUMMARY: Provide administrative support for the implementation of AGA’s public policy, advocacy, regulatory, payor coverage and reimbursement programs.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Coverage and Reimbursement Subcommittee (CRS) Support:
- Assist in managing and supporting the Coverage and Reimbursement Subcommittee (CRS)
- Ensure the timely completion of coverage policy reviews and comment processes to meet payer deadlines.
- Assist in managing the tracking of payor policies impacting gastroenterologists and their patients.
Event/Project Coordination:
- Assist with tasks associated with key projects such as:
- AGA Advocacy Day: assist with preparation activities, such as coordinating materials, scheduling meetings and other tasks as needed.
- AMA CPT, RUC, and House of Delegates meetings: coordinate meeting materials, schedules and activities, including assembling virtual agenda books, scheduling prep calls, assisting with coordinating on-site meetings with industry, arranging dinners, etc.
- American College of Physicians Subspecialty Advisory Group on Socioeconomic Affairs (SAGSA) meetings/activities: coordinate prep calls and assist with assembly of GI-specific meeting materials.
- Tri-Society CPT/RUC group: assist with preparation for monthly calls when AGA hosts, track/triage AMA CPT Knowledge Network inquiries to meet AMA deadlines, coordinate requests for assistance from industry, assist in coordination and assembly of supporting materials for Tri-society comment letters, etc.
- Payor resource center: monitor the site, triaging member feedback, facilitating updates, etc.
Data Organization and Analysis:
- Aid in organizing and analyzing RUC survey data, Medicare fee schedules payment changes, and other data-related projects.
- Prepare data for analysis and assist with assembling submission materials as required.
Regulatory Comment Letters and Communications:
- Assist in the development and preparation of regulatory comment letters and official communications on public policy issues.
- Coordinate with AGA member and staff subject matter experts, health policy consultants and others as needed to facilitate content development.
Project Management:
- Maintain and adhere to project timelines, ensuring tasks are completed efficiently and deadlines are met.
Additional Responsibilities:
- Fulfill other duties as assigned, aligning with the scope and responsibility of this position.
Qualifications:
Education:
- Bachelor's degree (BA or BS) from a four-year college or university is required.
Technical Proficiency:
- Advanced proficiency with MS Office (Word, Excel, and PowerPoint).
- Ability to quickly learn and utilize project management software (e.g., Work Zone).
Detail-Oriented:
- Possess keen attention to detail to ensure accuracy in tasks and data management.
- Meticulously review documents, data, and communications for precision and accuracy.
Organizational and Time Management Skills:
- Strong organizational and time management skills, with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
Communication Skills:
- Excellent written and interpersonal skills are essential for effective collaboration and communication.
