Job Summary:
The Chef is responsible for daily meal production and kitchen work assignment for Project Angel Food.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Supervise and assist in the production of meals including prep, cooking, and packaging meals.
- Direct the proper opening, set up, and closing of the kitchen on a daily basis.
- Supervise staff and volunteers in maintaining kitchen hygiene and food safety in accordance with the agency Quality Assurance Manual.
- Supervision and orientation and work of volunteers in the kitchen.
- Preparation of food for in-house meetings and other functions.
- Responsible for the overall management of the kitchen at least one day per week including completion of the daily food production schedule.
- Delegation of work assignments to volunteers, chef trainees, kitchen assistants, and dishwashers.
Abilities, Skills, and Qualifications
- Culinary and food hygiene skills for volume meal production.
- 1-2 years experience in high-volume food production, such as schools or hospitals.
- Ability to supervise and delegate work to staff and volunteers.
- Able to endure physically demanding work such as lifting, standing, preparing, and cooking food for long periods of time.
- Ability to work well in fast-paced environment with a diverse team of staff and volunteers.
- Ability to work Sundays and holidays as needed.
- Strong interpersonal skills.
- SafeServ certified.
- Fully Vaccinated against COVID 19
