Position will perform skilled maintenance, repairs and installation on fire alarm, intrusion, suppression equipment, clocks, controls and other associated systems. Work independently and exercises independent judgment relating to standard operations and safety matters.
Required Qualifications High School graduate or approved equivalentPossession of or ability to obtain 06 Electrical license
One year of skilled journey level experience in installation and/or maintenance of fire alarms, security and access control, intrusion, fire suppression equipment, and CCTV in an institutional, commercial, or industrial environment
Experience working in sensitive situations such as: operational offices, classrooms, dorm rooms, rest rooms, etc.
Valid driver's license or the ability to obtain one prior to starting work in order to drive a state-owned vehicle for travel to work locations
Physically perform essential job functions with or without reasonable accommodation
Ability to perform daily work tasks independently under limited supervision
Possess technical accuracy and recordkeeping skills
Ability to work with computer hardware and software required to track work orders and record time worked
Possess strong interpersonal skills and ability to work in a friendly and cooperative manner with students, staff, and faculty at all levels of the organization and in contacts with the public
Ability to manage time well and work under pressure situations with tight schedules and deadlines to complete projects
NICET II certified or ability to become NICET II certified within 6 months
Preferred Qualifications Two additional years of skilled or journey level experience in installation and/or maintenance of fire alarmsTwo additional years of skilled or journey level experience in installation and/or maintenance of security and intrusion systems
Two additional years of skilled or journey level experience in installation and/or maintenance of access control and CCTV
Knowledge of Edwards SDU programming protocol or Fireworks fire alarm systems
Experience working with related trades including: carpentry, welding, sheet metal, electrical, and plumbing in an institutional, commercial or industrial environment
A knowledge of applicable NEC, NFPA, and Washington Administrative Code (WAC) regulations
Ability to identify and record National Fire Prevention Association (NFPA) code related deficiencies and complete associated preventative maintenance related documentation
Apply good customer service
Responsible and accountable for performing tasks in accordance with WWU regulations and procedures
Fulfills all Integrated Safety, Security and Access Control responsibilities as appropriate
Experience with Auditability Testing and Radio Frequency Testing
Use independent judgment and decision making to provide best solutions to complete tasks
Knowledge of Washington Industrial Safety and Health Act (WISHA), Occupational Safety and Health Agency (OSHA) rules and regulations, standard job safety rules, proper use of a face respirator
