Department Overview
Motorola Solutions is a global leader in public safety and enterprise security. Our North American Proposal Center (NAPC) is an integrable part of the organization, helping sales teams deliver winning proposals. The NAPC is comprised of State and Local solicited RFx teams, A Federal proposal team, a Tools group, and a Writing Team.
Job Description
A Content Writer plays an active role in developing high-quality content for use in both competitive and non-competitive material throughout North America. This role works with Sales and Presale teams, Product Managers, and Marketing professionals to develop clear, persuasive, compelling content.
Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

• Reviews specifications to understand explicit requirements and stated needs
• Works with Sales and Presales to understand how our solution(s) meet customer requirements, goals, and desires, and crafts language to support our value proposition
• Develops foundational text ("standard" content), as well as customer-targeted proposal text that can be used across different markets and customer segments
• Develops outlines and storyboards for complex documents of various lengths and complexity
• Reviews solution and content text to drive improvements in argument, style, tone, and grammar to improve accuracy, and consistency
• Desktop publishes content, adhering to MSI formatting and layout guidelines
• Manages multiple projects with tight deadlines, prioritizing goals both independently and in collaboration with team

Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree preferred
• 3+ years of professional writing experience OR Master of Arts/PhD with a demonstrable record of successful academic writing (e.g. committee-approved thesis or dissertation, portfolio of published writing)
• Professional experience in technical writing is acceptable for this role, but not sufficient in itself for an application to be successful.
• Many assignments will be of a more persuasive nature, requiring the ability to translate features into benefits and to convince a customer to buy.
• Professional experience in the creation of high-level, customer-facing messages preferred
