The primary focus of the position will be to work closely with the Director, Communications to write and proofread proposals to be presented to top clients. The Marketing team crafts both digital and printed documents to pitch for property for auction and private sale across collecting categories. The team is responsible for overseeing proposal requests from all specialist departments plus members of the Trusts, Estates & Private Clients team located in 16 cities across the country. The position requires an individual to shape narratives within the Hindman brand, and think critically and strategically to appropriately position the firm as the frontrunner for winning business. Further responsibilities include the production of bespoke business-getting documents, plus contributing content for additional marketing initiatives in a fast-paced and deadline-driven environment.
In addition to working with other members of the Marketing team (including designers and photographers), the position will require liaising with senior management, specialists, Trusts, Estates & Private Client representatives, Museum Services representatives, and Hindman Appraisals LLC.
Key responsibilities:
  • Research, write, edit, proofread, and finalize each section of auction and private sale proposals for specialist departments and Trusts, Estates & Private Clients team
  • Ensure content is on brand, and consistent in terms of voice and style
  • Think strategically to develop and write cohesive and compelling arguments to help win business, supported by imagery and data where necessary
  • Create supplementary documents when necessary to accompany proposals such as pitch decks/presentations, agendas, and brochures
  • Partner with Director of Communications and internal stakeholders to establish priorities and hit deadlines
  • Manage multiple projects at once in a fast-paced environment with strict deadlines
  • Work closely with Designers and Photography team to manage proposal production
  • In addition to the primary responsibility of managing and executing proposals, the candidate will need to assist with crafting compelling, long, and short form copy for the website and additional marketing initiatives
  • Proofread copy across Marketing for spelling and grammar errors as needed
  • Other duties as assigned
Successful candidate will possess:
  • Bachelor’s degree in art history, Marketing, Communications, English, or Journalism preferred.
  • 2-3 years of working experience in a related industry. Working experience in a reputable fine art/collectibles auction house, gallery, or creative agency highly preferred
  • Working knowledge of InDesign (and Adobe Creative Suite) highly preferred
  • Expert knowledge of Microsoft Office Word, Excel, PowerPoint
  • Excellent writing, editing, and proofreading skills
  • Strong analytic skills with the ability to think strategically to craft a compelling story to help drive winning business
  • Ability to adapt writing style to marketing platform and target audience
  • Extremely detail oriented and resourceful
  • Exceptional project management and time management skills, which includes the ability to prioritize projects and hit deadlines
  • Ability to work collaboratively
  • An understanding of basic marketing practicesExcellent writing, editing, and proofreading skills
  • Strong analytic skills with the ability to think strategically to craft a compelling story to help drive winning business
  • Ability to adapt writing style to marketing platform and target audience
