General Description: The Content Specialist is responsible for the development of stories for use on multiple platforms to keep district stakeholders informed and engaged. With basic information, this person will be capable of researching in order to craft appealing content for online and print distribution. It's important they are a teamplayer, able to work well with others, have excellent writing and editing skills, be task-oriented, and innovative.
Performance Responsibilities:
- Good knowledge of multiple content platforms such as social media, websites, news releases, newsletters, and printed materials.
- Ability to research and write content using district sources along with outside research.
- Write, edit and publish content relevant for various platforms.
- Work closely with others to review and refine existing content for accuracy, SEO and accessibility.
- Coordinate with others to create content in support of current marketing initiatives, special events, recruitment efforts, and recognitions.
- Explore new forms of content distribution for the support of the district's initiatives.
- Assist with special events and department-wide projects as directed by the Executive Director.
- Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in literature, journalism, marketing, communications, or similar.
- A minimum of three years of experience in content creation, marketing, communications, or similar.
- Excellent storytelling skills, writing and editing, and project management skills.
- A portfolio of published work for review.
- Excellent computer skills with Google Suite.
- Understanding of Accessibility requirements for posting and distributing content.
- Experience in the educational field is preferred.
