Special Requirements
Must possess a valid California driver's license when conducting State business that requires driving a vehicle. Travel on short notice and overnight lodging will be required on some trips.
The position also requires that the incumbent be alert around the operation of construction equipment, and be able to perform safely in and around construction sites. May be required to work extended hours and overtime.

Desirable Qualifications In addition to evaluating each candidate's relative ability, as demonstrated by quality and breadth of experience, the following factors will provide the basis for competitively evaluating each candidate:
We are seeking candidates with a strong proficiency with the technical inspection of major public works, collaborative solution-oriented problem-solving skills, good writing and documenting skills, and the ability to function equally effectively while self-directed and as a member of a team. High level experience with civil quality control inspections, including excavation; soils testing; backfill compaction; and architectural features. We are also looking for candidates that have experience with contract correspondence, As-Built drawings, construction surveys, and checking of construction survey notes. Candidates also need to be proficient in Word and Excel, have excellent organization skills, and have the ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing.
