Prior experience working for a Commercial Contractor is required.

The Safety Manager is responsible for leading efforts to develop and maintain a safety culture to improve the safety & health of all employees including activities which support prevention of injuries, property damage, commercial motor vehicle accidents and ensure compliance with workplace safety in a designated territory.

Responsibilities
- Field observation and coaching co-workers and field employees in correction of unsafe conditions and behaviors.
- Provide leadership direction and education of key strategic initiatives targeted at improving safety culture and compliance.
- Conduct safety inspections on personnel, equipment and materials.
- Advise on provisions to minimize safety risks.
- Reinforces positive behavior through recognition and/or rewards.
- Lead investigation on all accidents and incidents and prepare root-cause analysis and prevent future incidents.
- Keep records of safety-related incidents and propose corrective actions.
- Collaborate with project team and strategically uses hands on approach to improve project safety, quality, and productivity,
- Monitor compliance and identify safety issues.
- Assists in Project Compliance with all Safety Rules and Regulations.
- Intervene in unsafe activities or operations.
- Prepare and conduct safety training sessions for employees.
- Train OSHA 10- and 30-hour classes
- Provide training logs training with valid certificates for construction-based roles not limited to fall protection, CPR hazard communication, PPE, aerial boom/scissor lift, bloodborne pathogens, slips and trips, and falls, ladder, scaffold awareness, proper lifting, and forklift.
- Implement safety policies procedures and programs in compliance with company local, state, federal and OSHA rules and regulations.
- Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned.
Education and Experience
Essential
- Essential to have a working knowledge of Construction Safety and loss control including OSHA DOT and workers’ compensation insurance
- Some travel, as required
- A valid driver’s license and insurable driving record
- Proficient in MS office
- Ability to build productive relationships with field and management team
- OSHA 510
- Bilingual- English/Spanish verbal and written fluency
- Bachelor’s degree from four-year college or university; Or 5 years related experience and/or training; Any equivalent combination of education and experience may also be considered.
Preferred
- Knowledge of various roof systems materials construction processes and theories
- Participated in an informal OSHA conference meeting
- OSHA 500 certification
