Job Description:
Our client is a general contractor that specializes in ground up, commercial construction projects. They are looking to hire a Safety Manager in Herndon, Virginia.
Experience and Skills:
- Must have 3-10+ years of experience as a Safety Manager
- Must have CHST Certification
- Develop comprehensive safety protocols, procedures, and guidelines tailored to each construction project, considering specific hazards, equipment, and activities involved
- Implement safety protocols effectively across all construction sites and ensure strict adherence by all personnel, contractors, and visitors
- Conduct thorough risk assessments to identify potential hazards and develop strategies to mitigate risks through engineering controls, administrative measures, and personal protective equipment
- Stay updated with relevant safety regulations, codes, and standards applicable to the construction industry, and ensure compliance across all projects
- Provide regular safety training sessions for employees and contractors, covering topics such as hazard recognition, safe work practices, emergency procedures, and the proper use of equipment
- Lead investigations into safety incidents, accidents, and near-misses to determine root causes, implement corrective actions, and prevent recurrence
- Conduct routine inspections and audits of construction sites to assess compliance with safety protocols, identify areas for improvement, and ensure corrective actions are taken promptly
- Develop emergency response plans and procedures for various scenarios, such as fires, medical emergencies, natural disasters, and hazardous material spills
- Foster a strong safety culture among all stakeholders by promoting awareness, accountability, and proactive participation in safety initiatives
- Maintain accurate records of safety-related activities, including inspections, training sessions, incidents, and corrective actions, and prepare reports for management and regulatory agencies as required
- BS in Construction Management or similar preferred
