What You'll Do

The person hired for this role can sit in any of ECS' established offices in the Mid-Atlantic Region (VA, MD, DC, PA, NJ)


  • Provide leadership and expertise in the combined role of Subsidiary Safety Manger and Subsidiary Radiation Compliance Officer  
  • Work with office level Safety Officers and the Director of Corporate Safety to implement the Corporate Safety plan at the subsidiary level 
  • The Subsidiary Safety Manager [SSM] will be responsible for the implementation of the Health & Safety [H&S] program, and the Radiation Safety Program, may also be responsible for the Medical Monitoring program 
  • The SSM will prepare Activity Hazard Analyses and training classes 
  • The SSM will conduct periodic site visits to offices and project sites to monitor and assess implementation of the ECS H&S Program 
  • The SSM will ensure local offices actively participate in scheduled safety audits and Behavior Based Safety Observations 
  • The SSM will review incident investigations and/or conduct more detailed investigations when necessary 
  • The SSM will assist local Safety Managers in Root Cause Analysis done in accordance with the H&S Incident Analysis Reporting process. 
  • The SSM will provide oversight of collateral duty Office Safety Officers to include their training and input for annual performance reviews 
  • The SSM will attend OSHA and other citation hearings and along with operations management, will provide consultation on process and support ways to limit company losses 
  • The SSM will participate in, facilitate and review all Root Cause Analysis done in accordance with the H&S Incident Analysis Reporting process 
  • The SSM will develop a proactive position for Client, Project Partner and Regulatory outreach 
  • The SSM will work with Corporate/Regional Management to ensure safety goals and objectives are aligned with ECS’ Corporate Safety program 
  • Attend OSHA and other citation hearings and support ways to limit office losses 
  • The SSM will ensure that subsidiary management is apprised of and updated on all serious incidents that require medical treatment beyond basic first aid 
  • The SSM will prepare and present to subsidiary and corporate management a monthly safety summary report that summarize safety incidents, observations, audits and training in their respective subsidiary 
  • Prepare and present to subsidiary and corporate management a monthly safety summary report that summarize radiation safety incidents, observations, audits and training in their respective subsidiary 
  • Assist and ensure subsidiary offices comply with applicable regulations involving the use or transportation of radioactive material or radiation producing devices 
  • Work with Corporate/Regional Management and local RSO and Branch Managers to ensure subsidiary and office radiation safety goals and objectives are in accordance with the ECS Corporate Radiation Safety program 
  • Perform Radiation Safety Officer training for office level Radiation Safety Officers (RSOs) 
  • Prepare radiation safety analyses and office or site-specific safety training classes 
  • Review Subsidiary Radiation field audits and ensure offices meet audit goals 
  • Assist local RSO in incident management in the event of a loss, theft or damage to any device that contains radioactive materials  
  • Ensure that subsidiary and corporate management is apprised of and updated on all incidents 
  • Investigate incidents and recommend changes in practices related to radiation safety and support the ECS radiation safety initiatives 
  • Review incident investigations and/or conduct more detailed investigations when necessary 
  • Attend regulatory hearings as necessary and support methods to limit Office and Corporate liability 
  • Attend professional development and educational seminars and conferences related to radiation safety as assigned by Corporate Services, may require overnight travel 
  • Perform other duties related to loss prevention and employee safety as assigned 

What We're Looking For
  • High school diploma or GED required

  • OSHA 30-hour Construction Outreach Certification
  • Advanced Safety and Health certification from ASSP or similar organization preferred
  • 5-7 years of experience working in a construction-related environment
