Looking to build the foundation for your career in real estate? The Greystar Summer Internship Program is a 10-week immersive opportunity in which interns discover new skills and gain hands-on experience while working for the leading multifamily real estate developer, investor, owner, and operator.
As a Greystar intern, you will gain exposure to all aspects of our business - development & construction, investment management, property management, and enterprise services - through daily work experience, intern events, and workshops including:
• Executive Speaker Series
• Business Segment Trainings and Workshops
• Weekly Lunch & Learns
• Mentor Relationships
• Site visits
Interns also complete and present a Final Capstone Project to their team and senior leaders. Through supportive coaching and professional guidance, the Greystar Internship expands on classroom knowledge, helping you translate your experience into a successful and rewarding career. JOB DESCRIPTION
We are looking for an Intern to join our Capital Projects team and work closely with our Construction Managers. The Capital Projects Intern is responsible working closely with our managers who are overseeing multiple jobs related to capital improvements and construction as well as being able to perform capital assessments of buildings and properties during the due diligence phase of acquisitions.
This Internship will give you exposure to ensuring Capital Projects are completed on-time, on budget, and with internal and external communication that meets best practices.
Responsibilities:

  • Builds relationships and develops communication and interpersonal skills with subcontractors and project team members.
  • Participates in activities such as punch lists, city inspections, safety reviews, quality reviews and prepares the necessary documentation.
  • Reviews and recommends change orders, solicits prices from subcontractors and suppliers, and ensures the budgets are amended as needed to reflect the changes to the project specifications.
  • Assists the preconstruction team in performing quantity take offs, developing bid packages, soliciting bids, and preparing estimates.
  • Supports the development and updating of the project schedule and subcontractor detail schedules.

Qualifications:
  • Ability to troubleshoot and resolve issues that may affect the construction schedule, and appropriately discuss concerns to business leaders when required.
  • Strong organizational, time-management, and project management skills to effectively track, report, and manage multiple projects and priorities while meeting deadlines.
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively and work in a team environment with a wide variety of people, including owners, architects, subcontractors, and business leaders.
  • Attention to detail and focus on quality.

Education:
  • Bachelor's degree in Construction Management

Compensation is based on geographic location and individual pay decisions will vary based on demonstrated job related skills, knowledge, experience, education, certifications, etc.
Onsite Property Positions: In addition to the base salary, may be eligible for a discretionary weekly, monthly and/or quarterly bonus based on budget.
