Construction Supervisor Phoenix Mine
Note, this position is expected to start work in March of 2024.
Provide in-the-field construction oversight for the installation of a small process plant. Scope includes erecting a building, approximately 100'w x 180'l, and installing ~25 pieces of process equipment. Equipment includes air compressors, filter presses, process tanks, agitators, centrifugal pumps, sump pumps, HVAC, MCCs, transformers, PLCs, and other electrical equipment. Total installed horsepower is ~500hp. Required slurry, water, plant, and instrument air piping and valves are also in-scope, as are the required power and instrumentation cabling and terminations. Pre (or wet) commissioning will also require oversight as being the transition point to the commissioning team and operations; design and construction flaw remediation may be included in this work as well, depending on the amount of work required. Work will be done by a General Contractor
Specific tasks for the Construction Supervisor will include:
- Running and minuting daily contractor progress meetings.
- Daily safety site walk-downs
- General oversight, including housekeeping, progress tracking, quality, equipment inspections, addressing RFI's/submittals (with support from the project engineer), reviewing contractor product submittals, etc.
- Administering the contract, including logging of daily activities, and reports, minuting meetings, reviewing submitted change requests, etc.
- Oversight of quality, including witnessing controlled activities, reviewing submitted qualification certificates, reviewing and verifying submitted quality documents, etc.
- Coordinating activities between contractor and site, including site access, warehousing/material receipts, tie-ins to existing plant, quality assurance checks, etc.
- Documenting turn-over of owner-purchased equipment to the contractor.
- Documenting turn-over of installed equipment from contractor to owner
- Retention and organization of all pertinent documents.
Successful candidates shall have the following qualifications:
- 5 to 10 years experience managing contractors in an industrial setting ranging from $15m -$40m price range.
- Proven ability to manage multiple construction disciplines simultaneously.
- Must be able to read and understand construction drawings and specifications and ensure proper execution of these documents by the contractor(s).
- Self-motivated, capable of functioning job tasks with little supervision.
- Good communication skills.
- Strong computer skills with proficient knowledge in MS Word, Excel, and Projects
- Organized
- MSHA 5000-23 surface miner trained.
Construction work is expected to run from early April until mid-September. Construction Supervisor is expected to be retained from mid-March until mid-September. Work is site-based, rotation is flexible, but anticipated to be 6 days/week, 10hrs/day for 3 weeks on/1 week off. Location is the Phoenix Mine, south of Battle Mountain in Northern Nevada.
