Field Engineering needs a Construction Coordinator / Work Package Planner to support Construction at the NNSS. This position will primarily serve as a field coordinator between Construction and Field Engineering and will also support Work Package planning.

 

Key Responsibilities

  • Attend construction pre-job briefings to provide daily verification that each scheduled field Work Package is up-to-date and compliant with the most current revisions. 
  • Manage document revision summaries and serve as point of contact for craft workers to track how their scope of field work has changed between revisions.
  • Support Construction Management and the Field Engineering Department by serving as a document control representative to maintain revision control of engineering drawings, work plans, and Work Packages.
  • Issue drawing sets to construction crews daily.
  • Maintain accountability of activity level work documents (ALWDs) during field construction.
  • Complete annual surveillances and accountability of ALWDs during field construction.
  • Work closely with Field Engineers and Construction Planners to ensure ALWDs include the latest drawing revisions.
  • Evaluate drawing revisions to ensure there are no changes to the scope or that hazards have occurred.
  • Support Construction Managers, Supervisors, and Field Engineering Manager with administrative duties and field coordination to support project execution.
  • Process construction work requests and create work orders.
  • Interface with Construction Crews, Managers, Supervisors, Foremen, Facility Managers, Engineers, Project Managers, Safety, Industrial Hygiene, National Laboratories, Environmental Safety and Health, Radiological Control, and other supporting organizations to prepare Work Packages (ALWDs) and supporting documents.
  • Facilitate and attend walkdowns and tabletop reviews for scopes of work.
  • Prepare ALWDs, Planning Team Job Aids, and Job Hazard Analyses for construction work occurring at the U1a Complex and underground tunnel facilities at the NNSS.
  • Identify skill of the worker activities and initial required training for Work Packages.
  • Perform Work Package reviews and facilitate the resolution of Work Package issues and concerns identified.
  • Identify potential safety, security, quality, or performance issues in performing the work scope and bring to the attention of the appropriate Subject Matter Expert or manager.
  • Provide, report, forecast, and maintain status updates for Work Packages to planning supervisor.
  • Attend and participate in identified functional organization, departmental, and all-hands meetings.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the supervisor.

  • Bachelor’s degree in related field and at least 2 years of professional level experience or equivalent training and experience.
  • High level ability and experience working with business software applications such as Microsoft Word, Teams, Excel, PowerPoint, and Adobe.
  • Experience in construction, planning, project management or engineering is preferred.
  • Ability to read and interpret construction drawings and engineering specifications is preferred.
  • Must be able to work effectively in a team environment consisting of field engineers, planners, and construction personnel to maintain document control for large scale construction projects.
  • Strong organizational and communication skills are required.
  • Strong computer skills and ability to manage and communicate data is required.
  • Strong administrative skills and experience is required.
  • Maintain nuclear planner qualifications and training requirements.
  • Experience integrating with construction project managers and project teams highly preferred.
  • Ability to cope with conflicting priorities, frequent interruptions, and multiple tasks during high stress operations.
  • Experience with Maximo Business Solution software or similar software is preferred.
  • Experience in planning for multi-craft construction work force is preferred.
  • Must have strong communicational, organizational, and teamwork skills. Prior supervisory or Team lead experience is preferred.
  • Must be self-motivated and possess a desire to improve and learn.
  • Ability to plan/prioritize work to completion in an efficient manner to meet required deadlines.
  • Must possess interpersonal and emotional intelligence skills to work effectively with various stakeholders in a professional manner.
  • Primary work location is the forward area of the Nevada National Security Site (located 65 miles northwest of Las Vegas, Nevada) to support specific duties.
  • Work schedule for this position will be 4/10’s, Monday – Thursday (subject to change).
  • Pre-placement physical examination, which includes a drug screen, is required. MSTS maintains a substance abuse policy that includes random drug testing.
  • Must possess a valid driver’s license.

MSTS is required by DOE directive to conduct a pre-employment drug test and background review that includes checks of personal references, credit, law enforcement records, and employment/education verifications. Applicants offered employment with MSTS are also subject to a federal background investigation to meet the requirements for access to classified information or matter if the duties of the position require a DOE security clearance. Substance abuse or illegal drug use, falsification of information, criminal activity, serious misconduct or other indicators of untrustworthiness can cause a clearance to be denied or terminated by DOE, resulting in the inability to perform the duties assigned and subsequent termination of employment. In addition, Applicants for employment must be able to obtain and maintain a DOE Q-level security clearance, which requires U.S. citizenship, at least 18 years of age. Reference DOE Order 472.2, “Personnel Security”. If you hold more than one citizenship (i.e., of the U.S. and another country), your ability to obtain a security clearance may be impacted.

 

Department of Energy Q Clearance (position will be cleared to this level). Reviews and tests for the absence of any illegal drug as defined in 10 CFR Part 707.4, “Workplace Substance Abuse Programs at DOE Sites,” will be conducted.  Applicant selected will be subject to a Federal background investigation, required to participate in subsequent reinvestigations, and must meet the eligibility requirements for access to classified matter. Successful completion of a counterintelligence evaluation, which may include a counterintelligence-scope polygraph examination, may also be required. Reference 10 CFR Part 709, “Counterintelligence Evaluation Program.”

Annual salary range for this position is: $60,777.60 - $91,166.40.

 

Starting salary is determined based on the position market value, the individual candidate education and experience and internal equity.
