Power Supply Engineering Services provides technical engineering support to PGE's generation facilities. An organizational priority is to ensure project, maintenance, and compliance work supports safe, efficient, and reliable power generation.
As a compliance engineer on our Electrical Design Engineering team, you will support onsite testing, creation of standardized reports, data collection, and work collaboratively with a broad range of teams across the company to ensure PGE's generation facilitates remain compliant.

Essential Duties

  • Coordinate testing from start to finish including field data collection. This will require onsite presence during testing activities
  • Partner with generation facility site staff to schedule testing activities
  • Review internal and third-party reports to ensure completion of scope and content accuracy
  • Develop and manage annual compliance testing budget
  • Maintain and update asset records as to demonstrate compliance with NERC standards
  • Develop long-term testing schedule, ensuring impact to generation fleet is kept to a minimum
  • Collaborate with internal engineering teams, generation facility site staff, compliance analysts and external consultants

Key Responsibilities
Engineering Standards: Maintains currency in state-of-the-art engineering practices and independently applies professional knowledge of engineering processes and standards to assignments/projects.
Applies professional knowledge of NERC/WECC Reliability Standards and NERC Critical Infrastructure Protection and professional knowledge of NEC and NESC to plant design and construction and applies engineering theories and concepts in enhancing knowledge of power generation facilities; enhances familiarity with and ability to find specific IEEE standards.
Engineering Production: Prepares a variety of moderately complex engineering deliverables; leads smaller production teams. Develops engineering solutions that meet technical requirements, all applicable codes and regulatory requirements and follow sound engineering practice.

Project Coordination: Provides complex design, construction, operation, maintenance or testing elements in support of engineering and construction needs of hydro, wind and thermal plants; contributes to capital budget and job estimates.
Knowledge Sharing: Shares current knowledge of latest technology and processes; may assist with mentoring, recognition and any corrective actions required.
Education/Experience/Certifications
Engineer, P2
  • Education Requires a bachelor's degree in engineering. ABET-accredited engineering program or program accredited by an equivalent agency preferred.
  • Experience Typically two or more years in related field, focus on power systems preferred.
  • Certifications, Licenses and Training Fundamentals of Engineering (FE) exam strongly preferred; may be required based upon role.
  • Valid Drivers License required

Associate Engineer, P1
  • Education Requires a bachelor's degree in engineering. ABET-accredited engineering program or program accredited by an equivalent agency preferred.
  • Experience Typically two or fewer years in related field, focus on power systems preferred.
  • Valid Drivers License required

Preferred:
  • Familiarity with following NERC standards: FAC-008, MOD 25, MOD 26, and MOD 27
  • Conceptual understanding of power generation equipment including generators, exciters, and governors
  • Conceptual understanding of protection elements including relays, current and voltage transformers, and limiters
  • Conceptual understanding of electric operating one-line diagrams

Competencies (Knowledge, Skills, Abilities)
  • Intermediate knowledge of engineering and economic principles and concepts.
  • Intermediate knowledge of other engineering disciplines and intermediate ability to interpret engineering deliverable content as assigned.
  • Intermediate knowledge and application of engineering processes and procedures.
  • Intermediate industry knowledge and technology trends.
  • Intermediate knowledge of company QA/QC process and procedures.
  • Working knowledge of construction feasibility.
  • Working knowledge of procurement and contract administration.
  • Intermediate knowledge of process and procedures for project controls and estimates.
  • Intermediate knowledge of initiating electrical improvements and corrective actions for power plants, dams and related facilities.
  • Intermediate knowledge in the thermal, wind and/or hydro generation areas; knowledge of substations preferred.

Compensation Range:
$65,850.00 - $130,125.00
