We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented individual to join our team as a Compliance Officer. This role will primarily focus on ensuring compliance with various regulations and requirements, as well as ongoing operations. This position will be integral to ensuring compliance with BSA/AML/FinCEN/OFAC/MT/MSB requirements, including SARs filings and regulatory license maintenance/acquisition. The successful candidate will possess strong analytical skills, a comprehensive understanding of applicable regulations; the ability to design, implement and oversee compliance programs; draft effective compliance policies, procedures and controls; and manage the regulatory audit process. The Compliance Officer will collaborate with other members of AmTrust's Compliance Department.
Responsibilities- Develop a thorough compliance program, policies, procedures, and controls to facilitate compliance with all applicable laws, regulations, and industry best practices.
- Responsible for discharging the company's Anti-Money Laundering (AML), Bank Secrecy Act (BSA), Know Your Customer (KYC), Money Transmitter (MT), and Money Services Business (MSB) obligations.
- Research, interpret, and maintain a comprehensive understanding of tax, data privacy, and other relevant local, state, and federal laws and regulations.
- Collaborate with Legal and HR teams to ensure compliance with all registration, license and reporting requirements. Prepare and file all related documentation in a timely manner.
- Ensure all records are maintained and readily accessible for review.
- Coordinate and provide information for external audits and regulatory examinations.
- Conduct periodic testing to identify compliance gaps and opportunities for improvement.
- Lead annual risk assessment to identify potential compliance vulnerabilities and implement appropriate controls and risk mitigation measures.
- Design and maintain a system for tracking and documenting compliance-related activities, including changes in regulations, policies, and procedures.
- Primary point of escalation and subject matter expert on AML and fraud related issues.
- Research transactions identified for further review and lead investigations into suspicious activity.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to implement necessary changes to internal processes to meet evolving compliance standards.
- Work with employees, clients, and other key constituencies to promote a culture of ethical conduct and a commitment to compliance.
- Provide guidance and training to employees ensuring awareness and understanding of compliance obligations.
- Develop and maintain good relationships with industry representatives, regulators and legislators on emerging financial technology laws and regulations.
- Bachelor's degree in business administration, finance, accounting, or a related field.
- 5+ years working in a compliance role, preferably within the banking or financial services industries.
- Experience executing an effective BSA/AML compliance program.
- Thorough knowledge of AML/BSA/KYC/OFAC/MT obligations, SARs filings, tax laws, and data privacy regulations.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to interpret complex legal and regulatory requirements.
- Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills.
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate and influence stakeholders at all levels.
- Experience in developing and implementing compliance policies, procedures, and controls.
- Experience navigating through complex data sets.
- Professional certifications in related fields are highly desirable.
The salary range for this role is $90K - $105K per year. This range is only applicable for jobs to be performed in Jersey City, New Jersey.
Base pay offered may vary depending on, but not limited to education, experience, skills, geographic location, travel requirements, sales or revenue-based metrics. This range may be modified in the future.
