Crop Manager

Donnan Farms Inc, York NY 14592, is looking to hire an experienced Crop Manager.

This person needs to know planting through silage harvest, have experience with large modern farm machinery. This position consists of knowledge of all farming operations related to dairy feedstuffs and will oversee maintaining and servicing equipment to keep the cropping operation running efficiently while managing a team to which will also include hiring, training, and keeping a full staff. This person will work in a team environment, able to work long hours during peak season and have common sense. Salary will be determined by experience.

Responsibilities

•Be able to perform, teach, manage, and understand all aspects of the production of field crops; including, alfalfa haylage, corn silage, grain, corn, soybean, small grains, cover crops, etc.

•Conduct physical inspections of crop condition

•Provide knowledge and experience in all aspects of grain and crop production

•Operate equipment safely

QUALIFICATIONS:

- Experience operating modern farm equipment a must, familiar with dairy and silage/forage operations preferred

- Dedicated and willing to work long hours during peak season

- Hard working, team player, strong communicator, self-starter, high morals, good ethics, motivated, and honest

- Experience with manure management, application along with record keeping

- Willingness to jump in and assist when and where needed is a must
