The Parks, Recreation, & Community Services Department is seeking energetic and self-motivated candidates who are interested in leading and building our aquatic team at our flagship pool, the Jerry Lewis Family Swim Center. Aquatic center staff work with all types of individuals (youth, adults, seniors, people living with disabilities, community organizations, etc.) patient, assertive, and quick-learners are highly desired.
The Ideal Candidate:
The ideal candidate will be computer savvy and possess excellent interpersonal and problem solving skills; possess experience in aquatic programming, and experience working with youth and adults in a recreation environment.
Parks, Recreation, and Community Services Department: High School diploma or G.E.D. plus two (2) years of major college course work in recreation, physical education or a related field or three (3) years of recreation or community service experience, preferably in a municipal government environment; or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.
Licenses, Certifications, and Equipment:
Possession of a valid California State Driver's License
Physical Requirements and Work Environment:
When assigned to the Parks, Recreation, and Community Services Department the employee works under typical office conditions, and the noise level is usually quiet. Employee is regularly required to sit; talk or hear, both in person and by telephone; use hands to finger, handle and feel computers and standard business equipment; and reach with hands and arms. The employee is frequently required to stand and walk; stoop, kneel, bend or crouch; and lift up to 25 pounds.
- Retirement - Participation in the California Public Employees' Retirement System (CalPERS). Classic members with less than 6 months separation: CalPERS 2% at 55, single highest year plan. New members, CalPERS 2% at 62, three highest year average plan.
- Health Insurance - Monthly contribution of $715.00 (Employee Only), $1,289.00 (Employee plus one), or $1,724.00 (Employee plus Family) for health, dental and vision premiums. Eligible employees who waive all medical, dental, vision, supplemental life, and supplemental AD&D benefits will receive an annual "Health Insurance Waiver Stipend" of $3,500.00 every first paycheck of December.
- Leave - Vacation beginning at 80 hours after one year, 96 hours of sick leave annually, 13 holidays, plus 18 hours of floating holiday time.
- Life & Accidental Death and Dismemberment Insurance - The City provides Term Life and Accidental Death & Dismemberment (AD&D) Insurance.
