Employee Status: Seasonal, part-time hours

Employment dates: May - October 2024

Schedule: 20 - 25 hours/week. Schedule may vary based on Programs and Events and will be coordinated with your supervisor (must be available evenings and weekends)

Who We’re Looking for

You will support campus-wide programming, events and Community Programs and work with an integrated team of program and event organizers, coordinators and hospitality team members in order to create high quality experiences for guests and program participants. This position involves coordinating and managing various aspects of mission advancing programs for adult learners and community events in order to create high quality experiences for guests and program participants.

Program Implementation, Execution and Management:

  • In partnership with the Director of Community Programs and Events, implement and execute programs for adult learners and community events including campus-wide, single day, multi day and residential Programs and Events.
  • Handle on-site physical aspects of event management including set-up, break down, and manage event related equipment (examples include tables, chairs, AV, etc).
  • Provide support of the facilities (Coach Barn, Breeding Barn, Farm Barn) in coordination with the Building and Grounds Manager and Director of Community Programs and Events.
  • Communicate with the team including event outlines, timelines and layouts of events and Programs and managing and overseeing events on the day of, including problem-solving, welcoming guests, directing event set-up, communicating with staff, and managing take-down.
  • Community Engagement:
  • Be the liaison between Shelburne Farms and community stakeholders, fostering relationships and partnerships.
  • Serve as a Shelburne Farms public relations ambassador for guests holding and attending events and programs by deepening their understanding of Shelburne Farms and its mission
  • Team Collaboration:
  • Collaborate with internal teams to ensure seamless execution and alignment

  • Availability to work evenings, weekends and holidays throughout the season (May-October).

  • Problem-solving skills and ability to troubleshoot and prioritize in the midst of an event in a fluid, professional manner.

  • Strong organizational, administrative, communication, customer service, and interpersonal skills.
  • Computer proficiency - Microsoft Office Suite and Google Suite (Gmail, Google Calendar, Google forms, etc.).
  • Ability to manage and prioritize multiple tasks.

Work Environment & Physical Demands

  • Seasonally demanding work schedule. Must be available evenings and weekends.
  • Working across multiple locations on the farm campus.
  • Setting up and breaking down equipment for events.
  • Carrying and moving tables, chairs and other items needed for events, including up/down stairs.
  • Carrying items weighing up to 40 lbs.
  • Indoor and outdoor work environment.
  • Working in varied weather conditions.
  • Ability to move over uneven terrain.

Compensation & Benefits

  • We offer a 30% discount on Farm products.
  • Six (6) days (48 total hours) of paid Sick Time for all seasonal employees, regardless of average hours worked/week and length of seasonal time working on the farm.
