Summary
Looking for an innovative way to leverage your leadership and creativity skills to support families in your community? This might be the perfect role for you! The goal of this position is to embed parent education and parent voice in all that MFCC does. To support these two goals through the cultivation of partnerships, volunteers and the parent advisory committee (Jr. PTA).
Note: Our definition of parent as used in this job description and in reference to our parent education and parent support group programs refers to any person who is carrying out the responsibilities of a caregiver for children.
Duties
High-quality program management for MFCC’s Parent Education and Parent Support Group Offerings
  • Design and remodel MFCC’s overarching parent education and parent support group strategy to better meet the evolving needs of community participants, and revitalize these core services. Using a collaborative approach, maintain, improve or design and implement updated programming, including but not limited to:
  • Parent Cafe
  • Responsive and regularly offered parent education workshops
  • Prenatal, father, or other targeted population support groups
  • Welcome Baby program
  • Community Playgroups
  • Improve our information and referral services through greater connections with area partners, and a warm hand-off process for community members in need.
  • Coordinate, promote, and engage in-program activities and special events to increase and encourage positive connections between staff, parents, and community.
  • Effectively evaluate the mentoring programs to ensure viability and effectiveness for the future of the program. Support grant reporting requirements when requested, and relevant to the mentoring program.

Volunteer Management
  • Plan and coordinate all aspects of volunteer recruitment, training, evaluation, and support including but not limited to volunteer onboarding, associated paperwork, partner collaboration, etc.
  • In collaboration with the staff team, determine and develop appropriate volunteer opportunities that both meet the needs of our programs as well as fill community member needs and interests. This includes coordinating and collaborating with community partners, and potential volunteers to increase the opportunities offered within our current programming and/or reduce stress on staff when relevant.

Strategic leadership community development
  • Drive positive organizational culture alongside fellow leadership team members. Learn and model the MFCC Policies and Procedures. Create a positive work environment for all staff by role modeling positive and effective communication, and promoting the Strengthening Families framework for working with children and families.
  • Establish and maintain collaborative partnerships with community and statewide Family Support Programs to continuously improve access to resources for families served by MFCC while also ensuring our programs best meet the needs of current community member needs and interests.
  • Represent the needs and strengths of the Family Support Programs on the MFCC leadership team through proactive communication, and collaboration with fellow MFCC leadership team staff.
  • Participate in relevant community forums as needed.
  • Facilitate the Parent Support team meeting with relevant internal staff on a regular basis to foster regular communication across programs that support caregivers, and drive on-going collaboration.
  • Engage in professional development training annually as required.

Requirements
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s level education in human services, education, or equivalent OR minimum 2 years successful work experience in human services, parent/adult learning settings, or a related field
  • Ability to establish positive relations through strong interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to provide effective and positive supervision for individuals with diverse learning styles and backgrounds
  • Competence in technology, data systems, and social media
  • Attention to detail
  • Skilled in organization, prioritization, and time management
  • Some travel is required, must have reliable transportation
