Job Description

We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated Community Health Worker to provide interpretation/language support services (Spanish/English) and navigation services to victims of Intimate Partner Violence (IPV). The chosen candidate will help individuals navigate through court systems and proceedings by applying culturally diverse, trauma-informed, language appropriate advocacy. This role includes case management, care coordination, and outreach services.

This position serves as an advocate to IPV victims, including Spanish interpretation services. This position does not serve as a legal representative nor authorized official of the interpretation of law.

Responsibilities:

Aids the navigation of the legal/judicial system to victims of IPV, providing interpretation services (Spanish) that are trauma-informed and empowerment-based advocacy.

Provides Spanish interpretation services in supports IPV victims' understanding of legal documents, preparation of documents, and legal procedures.

Assesses clients' needs, developing action plans, and follow-up to ensure adequate service, providing referrals, where required.

Coordinate with healthcare providers, legal resources, and social services to address client needs comprehensively.

Accompanies clients to legal/judicial proceeding where appropriate, primarily providing interpretation services, providing advocacy-based counseling and safety planning resources.

Conducts case management follow-up for clients during the legal/judicial process.

Participates in related support groups, coordinating and facilitating events.

Performs related work as required.

The hours of work are 35 per week. Required to travel to site locations (as needed).

This is a grant funded position. The position is contingent on grant funding.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

Knowledge of Community Health practices, including facilitation of presentations and data collection

Knowledge of the legal/judicial system as it relates to IPV victims. (Ex: orders of protection, legal procedures, etc.)

Demonstrated knowledge of IPV and the effects it has on individuals and communities.

Demonstrated problem-solving skills and a trauma-informed approach to concerns and challenges with clients.

Knowledge of technical platforms (Microsoft Suite: Excel, Teams, etc.)

Ability to communicate effectively, clearly, and concisely both orally and in writing in Spanish.

Ability to display excellent care services to behaviorally challenged clients.

Ability to work flexible work hours including pre-scheduled nights and weekends.

Strong organizational skills

Qualifications

High School Diploma or GED and two (2) years of experience providing education, direct care services or closely related field to a diverse population or be a certified CHW.

Bilingual - Spanish required.

Valid Driver's License required.

Preferred Qualifications:

Advanced degree in Social Work, Criminal Justice, or related field

Deep understanding of health and wellness objectives
