Position Summary: CultureWorks is seeking a dynamic individual to fill the role of Community Engagement Strategist. Reporting to the President, this position plays a critical role in managing CultureWorks’ artist- and community-facing non-grant programming. The role will lead our efforts to foster equitable access to arts and culture across the Richmond and Tri-Cities region while also increasing participation in, as well as the economic, educational, and social impact of all artists and non-profit arts and culture organizations throughout the region. A successful candidate will collaborate with local nonprofit arts and culture organizations as well as individual artists to create programming in support of increasing their capacity as well as promoting their work including through our flagship artoberVA celebration.
Job Responsibilities:
· Lead artoberVA, a month-long celebration of arts and culture in our region, from planning to execution. Specific responsibilities include:
- leading the internal team, vendors, and volunteers through the creation and implementation of the artoberVA strategy;
- designing and implementing community outreach arts experiences;
- measuring and reporting the program’s impact to key stakeholders.
· Design and implement year-round programs in support of the arts and culture organizations, and individual artists we serve.
· Serve as facilitator for the Cultural Equity Committee, consisting of artists and nonprofit leaders of color, to help shape CultureWorks grant- and non-grant programs
· Design and implement community arts events throughout the year in partnership with residents of underrepresented communities, local arts and culture organizations, and professional artists.
· Engage in advocacy efforts in support of professional artists, and arts and culture organizations around the region.
· Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
Qualified applicants must have a passion for arts and culture and a Bachelor’s degree and/or a minimum of three years of relevant working experience in relevant fields. Successful applicants will also have the following qualities:
· Demonstrated ability to effectively build strong relationships and drive collaboration amongst a diverse group of individuals and organizations
· Exceptional program design and program management skills
· Experience designing and facilitating group discussions and/or informational programs
· Experience with media relations
· Experience creating and managing to a budget
· Exceptional verbal and written communication skills
· Proficient computer skills. Experience with MS Office, Mail Chimp, Hootsuite, Canva, Google analytics, and Squarespace preferred
· Willing and able to adapt to having a diverse set of responsibilities that may change over time
· Able to work effectively and efficiently in a professional environment
· Able to be an enthusiastic, positive representative of CultureWorks
· Able to work a full-time work schedule that includes some night/weekend work (often at least once per week, more during artoberVA).
· Able to meet physical requirements of leading in person group discussions and community arts events, including handling tables, signs, and boxes weighing up to 20 lbs.
