A DAY IN THE LIFE OF A COMMUNITY ENGAGEMENT PLANNER

As a Community Engagement Planner, you are vital to advancing plans that are developed through strong engagement and support from residents, stakeholders, and visitors. You work on a broad range of projects from major transit, bridge, airport, and related infrastructure projects to neighborhood development plans to street activation and community events. You utilize your understanding of diversity, equity, and inclusiveness in planning and design to increase the diversity of community voices. Your attention to detail and planning experience foster an engaging and collaborative environment for a variety of stakeholders. You employ excellent time management to be an effective project team member and provide outstanding client service. You gain great enjoyment from engaging others in a collaborative process to develop community-supported projects.

COMMUNITY ENGAGEMENT SPECIALIST QUALIFICATIONS

• Degree in urban planning/design, communications, facilitation or related field
• 1-3 years of experience in consulting, public relations/communications, urban planning, or related field
• Experience gathering, analyzing, and sharing various forms of data and insight
• Experience in working to further understanding of areas of disparity or concern
• Proficient with MS Office, Adobe Creative Suite, Canva and Google Analytics
• Experience working in GIS or community-based mapping tools
• Ability to communicate effectively in a second language, a plus (Spanish preferably)
• Ability to travel throughout the New England and the Greater NYC Region

We are looking for a self-driven individual who can work independently and in collaborative environments and can utilize strong organizational skills to problem solve and manage multiple tasks effectively. Our ideal candidate must have strong communication skills (oral and written) and preferably has experience with a variety of stakeholder facilitation and presenting public presentations. This position earns a competitive wage ranging from $62,400 to $72,800 based on experience and skill.
