Position Details
Responsibilities include, but not limited to:
- Serves as the Project Director for the Entrepreneurial Assistance Center (EAC) funded by New York State Empire State Development, which includes overall project oversight and management, recruiting instructors, planning all workshops, developing a marketing plan, interviewing potential clients, and assisting clients with preparing MWBE certification applications.
- Develops database of workshops across a variety of entrepreneurial topics.
- Develops and manages the “Community Courses Initiative” where custom made programming can be delivered to municipalities, nonprofits, etc.
- Develops and coordinates strategic partnerships with nonprofits, civic organizations, and faith communities to support the work of the EAC and other Community Engagement initiatives.
- Coordinates communications for the Institute of Innovation and Entrepreneurship (IIE) with the staff including social media accounts, newsletters, mailings, etc.
- Develops presentations to market the work of the IIE and community programs of the Zarb School of Business to community organizations, business organizations such as local Chambers of Commerce, industry groups, etc.
- Attends networking events on behalf of the IIE and Zarb School of Business.
- Works with the Executive Director of IIE to develop and implement programs in social innovation and entrepreneurship.
- Supports and participates in new program implementation and development.
- Supervises the work of all student assistants, developing and monitoring their projects.
- Collaborates with the Dean’s office on communication strategies and content for social media channels.
- Interacts with other departments at Hofstra to expand the work of “innovation” beyond the Zarb School of Business.
- Connects small businesses with services provided by the IIE.
- Creates and manages reports needed to document the work of the IIE.
- Works with the Assistant Director for Grant Writing and Management to collect program metrics.
- Performs other related duties as assigned.
- Bachelor’s degree required.
- Five to seven years of related experience.
- Demonstrated experience in community service and Community Engagement.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Self-motivated with the ability to independently set priorities and manage multiple tasks under minimal supervision in an effective and efficient manner.
- Advanced proficiency in all aspects of Microsoft Office and Google Documents.
- Ability to work well in a fast paced, deadline driven environment.
- Ability to work with confidential data and demonstrate discretion in all interactions.
- Excellent time-management, organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
- Collaborative spirit and ability to work with a variety of people and personalities.

- Salary ranges indicated for positions covered under a Collective Bargaining Agreement are in accordance with the CBA.
