Community Engagement Coordinator
ABOUT US: Arts in Action Community Charter School opened in the Fall of 2011 with grades K-5 and Arts in Action Middle School opened in Fall 2016. Our program aims to provide a rigorous academic foundation while developing the whole child through a rich arts program, a daily socio-emotional learning component, and by modeling advocacy through social justice initiatives. RESPONSIBILITIES:
Community Engagement:
- Creating and distributing parent, staff, and student information literature (newsletters, event programs, event invites, reminders via website posting, flyers, emails, social-media, phone calls, etc.)
- Collecting, tracking, and submitting the payments of school gear for students in a timely manner
- Taking a lead in student recruitment on a higher level (creating initiatives, problem solving, leading projects/tasks)
- Supporting and following up with student enrollment requirements (familiar with Schoolmint is a plus)
- Coordinating the United Parent Committee and creating goals to measure success; Facilitating meetings and events with parents in the committee.
- Ensuring that all school volunteers have completed the Volunteer application and have met all requirements
- Creating plans and goals for expanding parent engagement and outreach
- Tracking and recording all parent meetings ( Monthly Parent Meetings, UPC meetings, Parent workshops and school site council meetings)
- Collaboration and coordination with school’s leadership team on Community Engagement initiatives
- Assisting with the application and implementation of community and school based grants
- Assisting and tracking information regarding our homeless and families in need and providing supports and resources for them
- Reports to the Director of Community Engagement and Enrichment
- Other duties as assigned.
REQUIREMENTS:
- Minimum of HS diploma, B.A. Degree or comparable experience in schools preferred
- Demonstrated successful experience working with elementary/middle school age students
- Demonstrated ability to positively work with staff and parents alike
- Bilingual (oral & written) Spanish/English is a plus!
