ResponsibilitiesThe Center for Leadership & Service transforms lives through leadership education, Community Engagement, and self-exploration, helping students develop skills and knowledge to become more effective leaders and engage responsibly with communities. To that end, we foster and sustain collaborative relationships among students, our campus, and the broader community.
The Program Coordinator is responsible for developing and managing a broad range of student programs focused on community, leadership and identity development for the Center for Leadership and Service. There is special emphasis in this position on mentoring and tutoring programs. Student Program Coordinators also deliver a variety of trainings, workshops, curricular and co-curricular programs.
Coordinates and manages the design, redesign, and implementation of student development programs focusing on Community Engagement and service-learning impacting preschool to college populations. Coordination includes leading a team of graduate student and undergraduate interns in the creation of program learning outcomes, budgets, curriculum, facilitation, and evaluation. Program portfolio includes programs focused on mentoring/tutoring support for youth in the Big Bend area (for example programs such as PeaceJam southeast, academic tutoring programs, and mentoring programs).
Develops, organizes, and communicates appropriate information via large educational gatherings (community/statewide/regional events, programs, and conferences, courses (credit and non-credit bearing) offered at FSU, FAMU, TCC and/or other surrounding institutions of higher learning or within the Pre-K-12 system, as well as programs, and workshops related to leadership, service and/or Community Engagement.
Serves on department, division, and campus-wide committees as assigned. Initiates and supports creative ideas to move the Center for Leadership & Service forward in its mission and vision, along with other duties as assigned.
Recruiting, training, and supporting community partners integral to Community Engagement in the region. This can include but is not limited to teachers and advisors who offer PeaceJam programming in school and community settings throughout the Southeast, and any other local partners who may be relevant.
Seeking, building, and maintaining on-campus and off-campus partnerships, including but not limited to the PeaceJam Foundation and youth focused institutions and agencies.
Qualifications- Bachelor's degree and two years of experience, or a high school diploma or equivalent and experience equal to six years. (Note: post-high school education may substitute for experience at the equivalent rate.)
- Florida or Georgia Driver's license or the ability to obtain prior to hire.
- Ability to develop and implement policies, procedures, goals, and objectives.
- Ability to evaluate process effectiveness and develop change or alternatives.
- Ability to train and supervise employees.
- Knowledge of the principles and practices of student program planning, development, and evaluation.
- Knowledge of the concepts, principles, and practices of accounting, budgeting, and cost control procedures.
- Knowledge of and ability to interpret and apply related federal, state, and local laws, ordinances, rules and regulations.
- Ability to utilize problem solving skills.
- Ability to prioritize, organize, and perform multiple work assignments simultaneously.
