Genesis Consulting has an immediate opportunity for an experienced, forward-thinking Communications Specialist with a passion for growth and business transformation for a statewide government client. Duties and Responsibilities:

As a Communications Specialist for a public sector organization, you will play a critical role in driving communication efforts related to technology transformation and modernization initiatives. We are seeking a skilled communicator who can develop and execute strategic communication plans to engage stakeholders, build awareness, and promote understanding of the organization's technology transformation efforts. This position offers an exciting opportunity to be at the forefront of shaping the narrative around our journey toward digital innovation and improved service delivery for the citizens of Minnesota. The Communications Specialist will be responsible for creating, managing, and communicating content; messaging; and strengthening the communications skills and capacity of other team members. Other duties include but may not be limited to:

  • Develop engaging and impactful content for a variety of channels, including web portals (SharePoint), articles, blog posts, and social media.
  • Collaborate with subject matter experts to create accurate and compelling technical content.
  • Assist in crafting memos and other correspondence as necessary.
  • PowerPoint Creation / Graphics.
  • Develop and implement internal communication strategies to keep employees informed and engaged.
  • Create content for internal newsletters, announcements, and company-wide communications.
  • Manage and curate content for social media platforms to enhance brand visibility and engagement.
  • Monitor social media channels for trends, mentions, and relevant industry news.
  • Ensure consistent messaging and branding across all communication channels.
  • Contribute to the development and maintenance of brand guidelines.
  • Coordinate communication efforts for events, conferences, and webinars.
  • Create promotional materials, announcements, and post-event content.
  • Provide knowledge transfer to the client and team members.
  • Develop and implement comprehensive communication strategies and plans to support technology transformation and modernization initiatives, aligning messaging with organizational objectives and priorities.
  • Identify key stakeholders, including employees, leadership, government officials, partners, and citizens, and develop targeted communication materials and channels to engage and inform them about technology initiatives, progress, and impacts.
  • Assess stakeholder information needs and prepare communication planning materials, outlining key messages, methods, and communications schedule by stakeholder interest group
  • Create compelling content, including articles, blog posts, newsletters, presentations, videos, infographics, and social media posts, to communicate complex technical concepts in a clear, concise, and engaging manner.
  • Partner with change management teams to develop communication materials and resources that support organizational change efforts, address concerns, and promote a positive culture of innovation and adaptation.
  • Work with the Executive and management team to conduct strategic and operational project management and risk mitigation planning in relation to change and communications needs.
  • Prepare related planning documents such as strategic plans and presentations to help advance the initiatives.
  • Work across all workstreams, focusing on schedule coordination, communications, change management, and assisting with user adoption
  • Support change management and business transitions activities as needed

RequirementsMinimum Qualifications/Experience:
  • Proven experience in a communications role, preferably in a corporate or technology environment.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills with a keen eye for detail.
  • Strong interpersonal and relationship-building skills.
  • Familiarity with social media platforms and digital communication tools.
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced and dynamic environment.
  • 5+ years of experience in strategic communication, preferably in a public sector or large enterprise environment, with a focus on technology-related initiatives and change management.
  • Strong writing, editing, and storytelling skills, with the ability to distill complex technical information into clear, compelling messages for diverse audiences.
  • Proficiency in a variety of communication channels and tools, including Microsoft Office Suite, content management systems, social media platforms, and email marketing software.
  • Excellent project management and organizational skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities, deadlines, and stakeholders effectively.
  • Strong interpersonal and collaboration skills, with the ability to build relationships, influence stakeholders, and work effectively in a team-oriented environment.
  • Experience with change management principles and practices, including stakeholder analysis, communication planning, and resistance management, is highly desirable.
  • Familiarity with technology transformation and modernization concepts, such as cloud computing, digitalization, agile methodologies, and cybersecurity, is a plus.
  • Demonstrated ability to assess and influence senior administration officials and executive stakeholder perspectives with a goal for mitigating risks and engaging customer and stakeholder buy-in.
  • Ability to think end-to-end and provide insights from various viewpoints.
  • Ability to successfully work with and tailor messaging for senior leadership audience.
  • Ability to use communications and graphics to tell a story to different levels of the organization
  • Ability to effectively manage complex messages and create easily understood communication messages and materials



Minimum Education:
  • Bachelor's degree in communications, marketing, public relations, or a related field; master's degree preferred.


Required Certifications:
  • None.


Other:
  • Local to Minnesota candidates preferred; Remote candidates will be considered.
  • US Citizens Preferred but Green Card candidates considered.
