Position Overview
Basic Professional level in administration/communications occupation under general managerial direction provides support by performing a wide variety of tasks, primarily fulfillment of public records requests but also some graphic design work. Performs the material and substantial duties of the classification 75% of the time.
Summary of Job Duties
Serves as the coordinator for all public records requests made to the Montgomery County Board of County Commissioners. Routes requests, reviews and redacts records (emails, pdf documents, contracts, etc.) prior to sending to requester. Must receive Ohio Sunshine Laws training within the first two weeks of employment and annually thereafter. Liaises between BCC and other Elected Official Office delegates in cross-departmental public record request coordination.
Serves as BCC subject matter expert on all laws governing Freedom of Information Act requests, to include but not limited to Ohio's Public Records Act, Ohio's Open Meetings Act, records retention laws, and the Personal Information Systems Act.
Responsible for proper notification for receipt of requests, fulfillment of requests as required by the Ohio Sunshine Laws, proper redaction of records, retention of all records and requests, and coordination with County legal offices as required.
Coordinates with department leaders to obtain all requested, required records. Consistently provides updates on all Public Records Request (PRR) to the Communications Department Director. Updates PRR database in a timely and accurate manner. Provides reports as required.
Performs basic graphics work as major additional duty. Creates newsletters, brochures and advertisements as needed.

Minimum Qualifications and Requirements
Equivalent to high school diploma with 2 years of experience as a secretary or management assistant utilizing automated office equipment and related software -OR- completion of associate degree coursework and 1 year of required experience -OR- equivalent evidence of the Minimum Class Requirements. Paralegal experience preferred. Experience using Adobe InDesign a plus.

Intermittent and Temporary Employees: Long-Term Sick Leave accrual is based on hours worked.
