Wages and Benefits

Schedule
This position works in an office setting and requires travel to other community sites. This position may work up to one day virtually per week.
A Typical Day in the Life...
A typical day as DARTS's Communications and Outreach Coordinator provides an opportunity to be a key connector in reaching older adults, those caring for older adults, volunteers, and supporters. In this role, you will identify community outreach opportunities, manage the calendar and key messages for outreach events, and solicit staff and volunteers for the events. Responsibilities will include the following:
Education and Community Outreach
- Identifying, developing, and generating new clients, volunteers, and partners from the community via networking, expos, existing partnerships, social media engagement, and visits to community organizations and direct service providers.
- Being present at volunteer or aging services expos and recruiting staff and volunteers to assist.
- Providing group presentations on DARTS services to community groups.
- Managing the expo kit to ensure current and relevant marketing materials and key messages are included.
- Maintaining records to report contacts, topics, time and dollars expended including recommendations for future participation.
- Maintaining general "About DARTS" presentations and identifying areas to customize for specific outreach engagements.
- Monitoring outreach spending and reporting to the cost center owner.
Social Media Content
- Collecting photos and videos from outreach events and proper photo release documentation.
- Posting images and stories to Instagram or Facebook following DARTS standards.
- Monitoring DARTS's social media activity as assigned to build online engagement.
- Reviewing key metrics to inform the marketing budget and social media strategy.
Events Coordination
- Working closely with the Director of Development or Program leaders to understand the proposed event and its goals.
- Assisting with event preparation activities such as registration, posting the event in free and paid media listings, and providing materials for outreach events.
- Coordinating event logistics details as needed.
- Assisting during events as needed or recruiting staff to do your event role.
Who You Are
- You hold an associate or bachelor's degree in business, marketing, communications, human services, or related field. Equivalent on-the-job experience in a related field or comparable combination of career and life experiences may substitute for a college degree.
- You have demonstrated experience with public speaking and networking.
- You have preferably have previous experience working with older adults and caregivers.
- You have experience in some aspect of event planning and social media (using Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn, and/or YouTube professionally is a plus).
- You have strong organizational and time management skills with the ability to multi-task.
- You have the ability to develop excellent rapport with older adults and community members.
- You have the ability to work independently and adjust methods of working as needed.
- You are skilled in Microsoft Word, Outlook, and Excel.
- You have strong listening and presentation skills.
- You have access to reliable transportation to travel to community sites.
- You have a valid driver's license and the ability to meet DARTS's driving record requirements, or access to reliable transportation. Please note that if the license was not issued in the state of Minnesota, you have 60 days after becoming a Minnesota resident in which to apply for your Minnesota driver's license or permit (not applicable for new hires living out of state).
