Associate Job Responsibilities (Part-Time, Hybrid):
The Program Associate will assist the BFBLGLV Coordinator in promoting the local food economy through marketing, outreach, and educational efforts. This effort will be primarily devoted to highlighting the BFBLGLV partners and the important ways that our local food system supports healthier communities and environments. The Associate will play a key role in developing and executing effective communication strategies to engage our community, increase awareness of local food options, and drive support for the BFBLGLV mission and local food purchasing. The ideal candidate is passionate about social impact, has experience (or interest) in managing social media platforms, and is skilled at creating compelling content. It is essential that candidates are enthusiastic about “farm fresh” foods and sustainable agriculture, with knowledge about the interconnected local food system and economy.
Expected Tasks:
- Manage social media platforms (Instagram, Facebook, YouTube) and marketing efforts with support from Coordinator to promote BFBLGLV partners and the many benefits of the local food system (health/environmental/community/etc.). Perform intentional analysis of outreach efforts using platform analytics and data collection strategies.
- Conduct partner site visits to gather insight and marketing content. Also, possible opportunities for website development and management (WordPress).
- Support education and outreach efforts through both in-person and virtual program development, research, surveying, and community outreach (ex: tabling at Lehigh Valley farmers’ markets and seasonal events).
- Distribute BFBLGLV materials and publications to established partner hubs and farm sites on a seasonal and as-needed basis.
- Support research and data collection efforts with support from partners and BFBLGLV Coordinator.
- Collaborate with a diverse network of farmers, community members, and agricultural professionals.
Hours: 20 hours/week, Mon-Fri with occasional weekend events which will be worked into schedule beforehand. Specific schedule to be established between Coordinator and Associate.
Qualifications:
Priority Skills:
- Experience developing creative content for social media platforms (mainly for Facebook and Instagram) and communicating meaningful topics through programs or other outreach efforts.
- Experience using Canva, Meta Business, and Google Drive/Microsoft Suite.
- Demonstrated leadership, creativity, and interpersonal skills.
Preferred Skills:
- Experience managing social media accounts and developing successful content campaigns.
- Experience with WordPress (website), SEO, and e- newsletter platforms (ex. Mailchimp).
Education:
- Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Communication, or related field and/or 2+ years demonstrated experience in marketing and communications with successful content creation.
