The Position
The Communications and Marketing Manager is responsible for developing FSA’s communications strategies and overall marketing to stakeholders, donors, clients, and volunteers in Santa Barbara County. The Communications and Marketing Manager coordinates closely with Development staff and reports to the CEO. The position is primarily in person, with some remote.
FSA strives to be a trauma-informed and resilience-oriented organization. Because working with those impacted by trauma can affect staff in various ways, FSA actively identifies and employs methods to support staff to embody a healthy and sustainable balance of care for themselves and others.
Sample Job Duties and Responsibilities
- Staff Supervision
- Maintain staffing levels by recruiting, interviewing, selecting, orienting, developing, and evaluating.
- Meet individually with direct reports on a weekly and/or biweekly basis to provide ongoing feedback and direction, support, consultation, and discuss any corrective actions as necessary.
- Conduct training and create other professional development opportunities to develop employee skills and knowledge.
- Program Development, Compliance, and Evaluation
- Responsible for developing agency’s overall communication and Marketing goals and strategies.
- Develop an annual plan for communicating with the general community, stakeholders, clients, and donors.
- Lead the Communication and Marketing Plan.
- Support event planning and promotion, including the event program (video, etc.), in coordination with Development staff and the CEO.
- Database Support – As needed, support Development staff gift processing (particularly related to online contributions), database mailing lists and reports, interfacing with email automation systems, and reconciling donations and tally sheets with the accounting department.
- Community Partnerships
- Support and promote outreach efforts and community events with outreach materials, outreach kit, branding, and publicity.
- Network and collaborate with community partners to cultivate relationships to increase FSA’s visibility and position in the community.
- Management Team Member
- Participate in Program Management Team meetings to ensure alignment in program operations and strategic program development.
- Participate in the ongoing development, evaluation, and implementation of operational and strategic plans.
- Cultivate a climate that invites and motivates employees from diverse backgrounds, providing the platform and support to grow and lead at FSA.
