Hollins University in Roanoke, Virginia invites applications for a Visiting Assistant Professor or Visiting Lecturer of Communication Studies. Position and Qualifications
The ideal candidate will have a Ph.D. in Communication focusing on human communication and experience teaching oral communication courses to undergraduates. ABDs and MAs with substantial teaching experience will be considered for appointment at lecturer rank. Teaching load is five courses per year including at least one section of Public Speaking, one section of Introduction to Communication, and three additional regular term courses that support the Communication Studies major.
This position has administrative duties which include supporting faculty from other departments to teach oral communication courses, offering training/workshops on teaching oral communication courses for new and continuing faculty, and supporting the Oral Communication Across the Curriculum program. The successful candidate will be committed to teaching excellence at a liberal arts institution and working with students, including those of underrepresented populations, within and beyond the classroom.
