We are looking for an experienced multi-line underwriter to join our package team to help take our Fuel program to the next level. You will be part of a dynamic organization that is seeking to scale our programs creatively and robustly, while rewarding individual contributions and encouraging team collaboration. You will be responsible for independently assessing complex risk underwriting middle market to large accounts while developing broker and carrier relationships to help Tangram build a book of business that will achieve growth and profitability.
RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE:
- Performs day-to-day underwriting functions at an advanced, experienced level
- Uses experience to underwrite and skillfully negotiate complex customer accounts to minimize risk and maximize profitability.
- Underwrites General Liability, Property, Inland Marine, Auto, Workers Compensation and Excess
- Executes rate strategy on renewal book
- Recommends creative alternatives regarding rating, coverage, etc. to advocate for good risks
- Engages underwriting assistants to perform support and administrative tasks as outlined in workflow documents
- Executes and rolls out program strategy to team
- Encourages and maintains constant connection among all functional areas – leadership, sales and operations
- Maintains underwriting files in accordance with Tangram policies and procedures
- Executes soft audits
- Order and review inspections to confirm accounts written are consistent with preliminary underwriting information and takes action when the inspection reveals unacceptable risk characteristics.
- Assists others in resolving problems with regards to program objectives
- Ensures adherence to underwriting standards, objectives and guidelines of program
- Implements changes and/or updates to written program guidelines
- Helps organize and review files during applicable audits by carrier partners
- Develops and maintains effective business relationships with agents and carriers in order to attract, develop and retain profitable business for assigned book of business
- Participates with senior management on product development, processes, and underwriting strategies
- Sends referrals to carrier as outlined by SVP of Underwriting
- Understands all programs and products at Tangram to be an effective advocate with agency community
- Actively manages program to reach production goals
- Special Projects as assigned
REQUIREMENTS:
- 5-8 years of progressive underwriting experience in package lines of coverage
- Strong communicator
- Ability to work in a team
- Positive attitude towards customer service and relationship management
- Effective analytical and logical reasoning abilities
- Good attention to detail
- Organizational skills and ability to problem solve and multi-task
- Strong personal initiative, ability to work independently
- Desire to have fun and engage with the team
- Solid computer skills and adaptation to new technologies and workflows
COMPENSATION:
The salary range for this position is $95,000 to $120,000. The offer will depend on the geographic region, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience, among other factors. This role may also be eligible to participate in a discretionary annual incentive program.
