Position Summary
DESCRIPTION:
A College Counselor is responsible for assisting YCP Counseling Services in providing counseling services to students, providing one to one and group interventions specific to student needs. Counselor will also provide outreach programs, trainings, and presentations as assigned.
OUTCOME:
Assuring effective coordination and delivery of counseling services and counseling referrals.
Essential Functions
Counseling (90%)
Conduct counseling sessions with individual students using a variety of strategies and interventionsConduct counseling sessions with groups of students using a variety of strategies and interventionsMake appropriate referrals to off-campus agencies, counselors, psychologists, and psychiatrists.Assist with campus crisis intervention situationsMaintain records pertinent to the responsibilities of the Counseling Services OfficeOutreach (10%)Provide Campus outreach programs, trainings, and/or presentations as assignedAssist with promotion and outreach of Counseling ServicesExperience and Education Required
Master’s degree in counseling, clinical psychology, marriage & family therapy, social work, or related degreePennsylvania State licensed clinician (i.e. Licensed Professional Counselor, Licensed Marriage & Family Therapist, Licensed Clinical Social Worker)At least one year experience with college counseling and Student Affairs work is preferredRequired Skills and Qualifications
Ability to work effectively and communicate in collegiate setting with students, faculty, administrators, and staffAbility to function capably in fast-paced work environmentAbility to practice ethical, professional therapeutic interventions with students under the provision of a professional license through the PA State Board of Social Workers, Marriage and Family Therapists and Professional Counselors
