Job Title:Poultry Farm Worker 2 (Wash Crew) Job Grade: 08
FLSA Status: Nonexempt Reports to: QA Facility Supervisor Location: North Carolina Farms
Schedule: Responsibilities may occasionally require an adjusted work schedule. Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday and Friday, including holidays beginning at 7:00AM to 3:00PM until job is completeTypically these positions average 40 hours a week. Hours are subject to change depending on the needs of the GP Facility and time of the year.
Position Summary:
  • This position is responsible for cleaning and disinfecting Cobb Poultry houses/vehicles, modules, and equipment.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Pressure Washing (70%)
  • Disinfecting Houses (10%)
  • Installing Shavings (10%)
  • Vaccinate GP chickens and move spike males (5%)
  • Other duties, responsibilities and activities may change or be assigned at any time with or without notice such as: operate a high pressure and regular water hose, maintains foot pans and hand sanitizers, clean and disinfect Cobb vehicles, maintain a clean and organized work area, maintain Cobb equipment. (5%)

Biosecurity/Animal Welfare Requirements/Safety Requirements:
  • The jobsite is a biosecure environment which requires showering, changing clothing and footwear before entering the facility. Appropriate clothing and footwear are provided by the Company. No jewelry may be worn on the jobsite except for medical ID jewelry. Must be willing to sign an agreement to avoid any avian species (chickens, ducks, birds, etc.). Must be willing to sign and abide by the Company Biosecurity and Company Animal Welfare Guidelines. Will be trained to recognize and comply with all Safety procedures.

Physical Demands and Work Environment:
  • Physical: Must use safe lifting techniques. Must regularly lift and/or move up to 30 pounds and may be required to lift and/or move up to 100 pounds at times. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand; walk; sit; use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls; reach with hands and arms; balance; stoop; talk or hear; and drive a vehicle to and from the job sites. Specific vision abilities required by the job include close vision; distance vision; color vision; peripheral vision; depth perception; and the ability to adjust focus.
  • Personal Protective Equipment Required: safety goggles, face shield, chemical gloves, waterproof apron, and rubber boots are required when handling chemicals; ear plugs and ear muffs will be used as needed.
  • Chemical Commonly Used: Phenolic based disinfectants.
  • Environment: Required to work on wet, slippery surfaces and also in hot, dry, dusty, wet and cold environments.

Minimum Requirements:
  • Education: Must have good communication skills to accurately convey opinions and concerns.

General Sign Off: The employee is expected to adhere to all company policies. Failure to perform this job to above standards could lead to progressive discipline up to and including termination. Qualified applicants must live within 50 miles of the Wadesboro, NC facility and must have at least one year of work experience with one employer over the past three years with no gaps in employment of over six months. (Exceptions are made for layoffs, attending school, or the birth of a child.)
Candidates with agricultural or production experience will be considered preferred.
Starting Wage: $17.00
Plus, additional shift differential for evenings, nights and weekends.
