Hawker Pacific Aerospace, Sun Valley, CA is seeking CNC Operator III to support its CNC department. Selected applicant will be responsible for the set up and operation of numerical control machines to cut, shape, or form metal work pieces to specifications for aircraft components.
This position may be assigned to one or more departments depending upon the company needs at the time.
Essential Duties
This individual has the responsibility and authority to carry out assigned task. May be assigned some or all duties indicated below depending on job progression level.
- Set up and run machines for production by inspecting parts for malfunctions, troubleshooting malfunctions when necessary, and reporting needed repairs. Perform basic CNC programming.
- Produce micro finishes while turning and facing aircraft components.
- Review setup sheet and specifications to determine setup procedure, machining sequence, and dimensions of finished work piece; read and understand blueprints; perform basic shop math and calculations.
- Attach fixture to machine bed and positions and secure work piece in fixture according to setup instructions, using clamps, bolts, hand tools, power tools, and if needed measuring instruments, such as rule and calipers.
- Load control Data media, such as disk, tape, or punch card, into machine control console or enters commands to by retrieving preprogrammed machine instructions from database. Edit, manipulate controls and enter commands to index cutting tool to specified set point and to start machine.
- Regulate machining by utilizing machine instrumentation knowledge, setting, and adjusting controls.
- Observe and listen to machine operation to detect malfunctions, such as worn or damaged cutting tools.
- Change cutting tools and location of work piece during machining process as specified in setup instructions.
- Layout and inspect assigned work. Measure work piece for conformance to specifications, using measuring instruments, such as micrometers, dial indicators, and gauges. Notify lead and or manager of discrepancies.
- May adjust machine feed and speed and change cutters to machine parts according to specifications when automatic programming is faulty or machine malfunctions.
- Ensure that all the traceability for work performed is complete and legible.
- Meet production deadlines by following production schedules and procedures.
- Identify and resolve production problems when they arise. Notify the Department Lead and or Manager of any production problems.
- Adhere to all the rules, regulations, and safety guidelines.
- Responsibility to work with LEAN Manufacturing principles.
- Performs other duties as required by business needs.
Education: High School diploma or equivalent. Bachelor's degree preferred.
Certification/Licensure: CNC certification preferred.
Experience: Maintenance Repair & Overhaul (MRO) Landing Gear Experience.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Great analytical, critical thinking and problem-solving abilities. Superior presentation and negotiation skills. Strong adaptability and capacity to work in fast-paced environments. Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite. Attention to detail and ability to multitask tasks from multiple administrators. SAP Knowledge.
