Position Description
Manufacturing Test Engineering team is seeking a skilled and highly motivated, mechanically inclined technician with CNC programming and machining experience to join the team and contribute to Tesla’s mission to accelerate the world’s transition to sustainable energy. Our team is focused on creating robust, beautiful, data-centric production testing equipment for Tesla’s powertrain and energy engineering groups.

Responsibilities
- Mechanical build and assembly of precision test equipment
- Cut various materials, build tooling, set fixtures, prove and run programs, deburr and finish parts
- Program, setup, run and maintain 3-axis vertical CNC Mill in a low-volume, high-mix workflow
- Work closely with engineers to provide crucial input on design for machining and assembly
- Machine complex components to tight tolerances in various materials with 2-5 days turnaround
- Use various inspection and measurement tools to validate your work
- Tracking and documentation of machining processes and results when necessary
- Perform all assignments in accordance with EH&S and security policies
Requirements
- 5+ years of experience building industrial equipment machinery, or similar experience such as automotive or heavy machinery mechanic
- Ability to follow mechanical drawings and assemble fixtures comprising bearings, motors, actuators, dowels, belts, gears, and pneumatics
- 3+ years of CNC mill programming experience
- CAM programming with SolidWorks and Autodesk Fusion, or similar (will provide training upon hire for qualified candidates)
- 3D CAD experience/knowledge, preferably SolidWorks
- Ability to identify and procure effective tooling and work-holding solutions
- Knowledge and understanding of engineering drawings, documents and GD&T
- Knowledge in the use of measurement and inspection tools such as calipers, micrometers, gauge pins, bore gauges, etc.
- Thrives in a fast paced, constantly evolving environment while staying attentive to detail
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $24.00 - $42.00 per hour
Expected hours: 40 – 50 per week
