Cnc Machinist

Atlanta Gear Works is located in Dawsonville, GA. We are hiring immediately for a CNC Machinist. Ideal candidate must have at least 3 years of prior experience. Must have experience in programming and both Manual and CNC Lathes and Mills, and be able to read mechanical drawings. This position is for a machinist not operator. We are a contract precision maintenance jobshop that services and repairs both large and small process critical gearboxes for a variety of industries.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Must be able to machine parts from mechanical drawings.
• CNC work must include setup, programming (on Machine and in CAM), tool setup and operations.
• Must have experience in both Manual and CNC Lathes and Mills.
• Ability to read micrometers and other measuring instruments and record readings.
• Ability to read mechanical drawings.
• Ability to make simple math calculations.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

• High School Diploma or GED is required. Technical school is a plus.
• Minimum of three years experience in this field.
• Must have experience with correctly using high precision measuring instruments (such as veneer, micrometers OD & ID, depth gauge, etc.) in lengths of a thousandth.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

Ability to lift small, medium and large objects, up to 50lbs regularly. Stamina to work 40+ hours each week.

WORK ENVIRONMENT

The Machinist will be exposed to mostly low noise, however, sometimes moderate to high noise levels within the production environment. Occasionally on-site at a customer facility. Possibility for extreme heat, wet, dry, humid conditions. We are a certified drug-free workplace.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $21.00 - $28.00 per hour

Expected hours: No less than 40 per week
