Job Summary:
We are seeking a conscientious and detail-oriented Lead CNC Machinist who is ready to take initiative is a fast-paced environment.
This job requires the ability to direct work of other CNC machinists as well as complete hands-on tasks. For the machining department this role is the subject matter expert with strong CNC machining knowledge and is a resource for our business. The ability to develop other individuals skill sets is a critical part of the role as the subject matter expert.
A high level of expertise is expected and the ability to follow all procedures to facilitate the production of highly accurate machined parts is required to be successful in the role.
Responsibilities and Duties:
- Programs machines utilizing various software and drawings and specifications from customers.
- Produce machined parts by entering CNC programs, setting up tools, setting up work holding, determining tool offsets and part verification checks to produce parts to customer specifications.
- Designing and implementing custom set-ups and fixturing.
- The ability to read and understand customer part drawings and tolerancing schemes.
- Schedule department jobs by coordinating with planning and supervision.
- Manage a small team's performance and development.
- Able to maintain a quality management system in compliance with ISO 9001.
- Partner with the leadership team to determine cost savings opportunities.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Skills and Qualifications:
- Certification in CNC machining or 5+ years of experience.
- 5 or more years' experience operating a CNC machining center in a job shop production environment.
- Ability to influence and collaborate with all levels of the organization.
- Must have the ability to communicate effectively orally, in writing, in person, and by phone.
- Proficient skill with writing and understanding G-Code and CAD/CAM programming software, (Solidworks, Mastercam; Preferred).
- Experience with multi-axis machining, (4 and 5 axis), sub spindle and lathe live tooling.
- In-depth experience with tight tolerance machining and GD&T.
- Experience machining a variety of material to include; Plastics, Non-Ferrous, Mild Steel, and Hardened Steel.
- Experience working with small /large parts and assemblies.
- Self-starter with the ability to work independently and react quickly to changing priorities. A sense of urgency is a must.
