Job Summary

Provide assistance to the School's Machine Shop Foreman in performing highly skilled technical work involving the design, fabrication, modification, and repair of mechanical apparatus and equipment. Interact with Machine Shop Foreman, faculty, staff, research personnel, graduate students.

Responsibilities

Job Duty 1 -
Design, fabricate, and assemble research and experimental prototype models and apparatus. Interpret sketches and designs provided by the customer. Perform precision machine operations and fine instrument work.
Job Duty 2 -
Provide assistance to the Machine Shop Foreman for installation, maintenance, and repairing equipment and machinery, inventory of tools, supplies, parts.
Job Duty 3 -
Assist faculty, staff, and students with research design, and fabrication of equipment; instruct students and staff in the use of special experimental apparatus and equipment.
Job Duty 4 -
Perform other duties as assigned

Required Qualifications

Educational Requirements
Technical Diploma, Associate's Degree or equivalent combination of education and experience

Required Experience
Four to six years of job related experience

Preferred Qualifications

Preferred Educational Qualifications

Tungsten Inert Gas (TIG) Welding experience for research experiment fabrication (2-4 years experience)
Bachelor's Degree
