The Machinist I is responsible for the machining of parts to specification from engineering drawings by performing or receiving assistance on the set-up and operation of conventional and CNC machines including lathes, milling machines, and other general machine shop equipment.
DUTIES INCLUDE
- Operates manual and CNC machine tools such as lathes, milling centers and other machine shop equipment.
- Verifies conformance of finished work piece to specifications using precision measuring instruments and documents results.
- Performs own inspections and can use a wide variety of inspection equipment including micrometers, calipers, and dial indicators as well as performing surface plate inspections.
- Applies knowledge of machine shop theory, shop mathematics and machinability of materials.
- Studies blueprints, sketches, drawings, manuals, specifications, or sample parts to determine dimensions and tolerances of finished work pieces, sequence of operations, and setup requirements.
- Meets production and quality goals.
- May perform secondary operations such as deburring.
- Maintains work area(s) in a neat and orderly fashion.
- Works safely and reports safety issues, machine malfunctions, etc. to the appropriate manager.
- Ensures all specifications and procedures are followed efficiently while maintaining a high quality level.

Pay: $18.00 - $22.00 per hour
