Planned Parenthood Los Angeles is seeking an experienced and caring Lab Managerwith excellent communication and customer service skills to work at our Long Beach Central Health Center. The Lab Manager, qualified under is responsible for day-to-day supervision and oversight of the laboratory operation and personnel performing tests and reporting test results. Also, maintains medical laboratory equipment performance by establishing quality standards; develops operations, quality, and troubleshooting procedures in collaboration with the Laboratory Director and Patient Services Leadership. Additionally, ensures staff compliance; verifies instrument performance; arranges equipment replacement, service, and repair; and coordinates procurement of laboratory consumables with Purchasing Department.

•     B.A./B.S. in an appropriate major.
•     California Clinical Laboratory Scientist Licensure.

About the position:

• Abortion patients are cared for at each of our health centers, and in part through the administrative, support, and other non-clinical services provided at all PPLA locations, and by all PPLA employees. Supporting these critical services is an essential job duty, and a fundamental responsibility of all employees and contractors.
• Be accessible to lab personnel at all times testing is performed to provide onsite telephone or electronic consultation to resolve technical problems in accordance with policies and procedures.
• Provide day to day supervision of moderate and high complexity test performance by lab personnel
• Be onsite to provide direct supervision when high complexity testing is performed by any individual
• Be responsible for monitoring test analyses and specimen examinations to ensure that acceptable levels of analytic performance are maintained.
• Assist in assuring that all remedial actions are taken whenever test systems deviate from the laboratory's established performance specifications.
• Assist in assuring that all patient test results are not reported until all corrective actions have been taken and the test system is properly functioning.
• Assist in providing orientation to all lab personnel.
• Assist in annual evaluations and documentation of the performance of all lab personnel.
• In the absence of the Senior Director, the Lab Manager must be responsible for the proper performance of all laboratory procedures and reporting of test results.
• Performing tests when necessary to keep the expected TAT.
