The Clinical Resource Coordinator provides centralized training support for all support staff, MA externs, and MA students through skills labs, didactic education, skills assessments, and CLIA-waived competencies. Supervises the Float/Flex team and manages flex/float schedules. Provides operational site support with Joint Commission rounding, environment of care training, and infection control training. Provides clinical resourcing as float staff, as needed.
Responsibilities:
Resource Clinical Support Staff (30%)
- Perform all duties and responsibilities assigned in the Medical Assistant or Clinical Support Nurse, Float Medical Assistant, and MA Team Lead job descriptions.
- Manages requests for float staff and coordinates all flex and float MA schedules based on site needs.
- When working as a resource support staff (SS), supports provider or providers for 100% of their day in an administrative role, unless otherwise assigned by their supervisor.
- Provide support at all Erie sites as directed to assist in covering vacancies or providing additional support during new SS onboarding. This will ideally be onsite but may be done remotely for special circumstances.
- Provides coverage within Erie’s hours of operation; includes evenings and weekends as assigned.
Clinical Educator (70%)
- Facilitate onboarding process and provide hands-on training to new SS. Travels to various Erie sites to provide additional training for new SS, as needed.
- Assist in implementation of new initiatives or guidelines in collaboration with Clinical Education Director.
- Leads, facilitates, and trains evaluators for CLIA-waived competencies annually (May/June) and upon hire; participates as an evaluator.
- Provides a variety of learning materials and resources for use in educational activities.
- Develop lesson plans for SS modules, including community health, patient safety, medications, infection control, phlebotomy, administering vaccines, patient privacy, and Joint Commission.
- Ensure classroom materials (PowerPoints, competency spreadsheets, quizzes) and equipment are provided for all trainings. Ensure safety and sanitation of all labs, equipment, and supplies.
- Provides training and support to site-based SS preceptors.
- Collect training evaluation data via surveys and other evaluation tools.
- Conducts functions of administrative including managing skills and competency paperwork, schedules training sessions.
- Participates in interdisciplinary team meetings and other committee meetings as delegated.
- Maintains compliance with all Joint Commission standards, provides Joint Commission Environment of Care (EOC) training supports to new SS and during site meetings.
- Gain and maintain expertise in sterilization and high-level disinfection, coordinate annual sterilization and high-level disinfection competencies.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Skills and Knowledge:
- Bilingual (Spanish) dependent on site and the patients served at that site. (May be required to communicate with and assist non-English/Spanish only speaking patients and/or guests)
- CPR Certification – must always be current.
- Ability to multitask.
- Ability to organize and prioritize work for timely completion.
- Effective communication skills, both verbally and in writing
- Able to easily understand complex instructions.
- Excellent customer service skills
Experience:
- Clinical RN (3 years), LPN (3-5 years), MA (5+ years) experience, preferably in a community health center.
- Experience with rooming patients as a PCT, MA, or RN required.
- Superior knowledge in key medical assistant subject areas, including communication, community health, patient safety, health education, medications, infection control, lab, and patient privacy.
- Microsoft Office experience strongly preferred.
- Strong organizational skills
- Experience in oral presentation/written communication skills strongly preferred.
- Prior provider office experience is beneficial.
Education:
- High School diploma or equivalent required
- MA: MA Certification or Registration strongly preferred
- LPN/RN: Associates degree or some college preferred
