Posting Summary
Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey is seeking a Clinical Pharmacist Specialist (Pharmacy Informatics) within the Rutgers Cancer Institute of New Jersey. The primary purpose of the Clinical Pharmacist Specialist (Pharmacy Informatics) position is to support and enhance the current informatics infrastructure in the Office of Human Research Services (OHRS) by being responsible for the development and management of research protocol content that will be placed into the EPIC Beacon order set templates for provider ordering. This position will work closely with Principal Investigators, pharmacists, research nurses, Beacon builders, and the Willow team. Additionally, this position will also participate in cross-institutional committees regarding the order set content. It will ensure that the Beacon order sets are in accordance with the appropriate guidelines of the Food and Drug Administration (FDA), National Cancer Institute (NCI), and other Federal and State agencies.
Among the key duties for this position are the following:
  • Utilize OnCore® to gather content for Beacon order sets and applies knowledge of pharmacy flow, medication safety, and medication knowledge throughout the building, reviewing, and approving accurate and complete Epic Beacon order sets to ensure compliance with individual research protocolsto provide safe and appropriate patient care and to maintain the integrity of the research protocol.
  • Works closely with the Beacon builders and Willow team to prioritize protocol build, assist with moving the Beacon protocols to production, and serve as the liaison between the research team members, Beacon builders, and Willow team. Additionally, will provide expertise experience across the Disease Specific Groups (DSGs).
  • Assist in the development of amendment changes. Maintains database for tracking amendments. Monitors the study task list assignment queue in OnCore ®.
  • Provide status reports to management and research teams on activities, including the status of validation of the EPIC Beacon builds and other topics.
  • Supports the Beacon protocol validation process.

Qualifications
Minimum Education and Experience
  • Bachelor's degree or Pharm. D. in Pharmacy with one (1) year of experience with Information Services or related field.

Certifications/Licenses
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • Must be licensed and registered by the New Jersey Board of Pharmacy.
  • Three (3) to five (5) years of experience as a licensed, practicing pharmacist is required.
  • Three years of clinical and/or research experience is required.
  • Must be detail-oriented, have excellent organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills, hold self-accountable to high standards of professional excellence, be able to maximize resources and be resourceful, and seek and accepts personal and professional responsibility on a continued basis.
  • Must be computer literate with proficiency and working knowledge of database and reporting tools such as Microsoft Word, Excel, Access, and PowerPoint.
  • Effective oral and communication skills.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Background in oncology preferred.
