Position
Join us at Rocky Mountain Laboratories as a Laboratory Assistant, where your role will be pivotal to the Polymerase Chain Reaction (PCR) of our clinical lab. We're seeking a dynamic individual who excels in a collaborative environment and thrives on diverse responsibilities that contribute to the smooth functioning of our operations.
The daily workflow would include assisting with laboratory organization and inventory, regularly ensuring orders are accounted for, responding to the department and client communication, managing electronic records, attending meetings, and assisting in projects from the department supervisor. Throughout these tasks, the candidate will be expected to maintain high safety and clinical standards to ensure a safe outcome for our team and our client’s patients.
Responsibilities:
- Track activity for scheduled tasks like machine maintenance.
- Assist in processing, and documenting clinical samples for PCR.
- Adhere to stringent standard operating procedures (SOPs)
- Organize and oversee lab supplies, reagents, and inventory for PCR areas.
- Monitor laboratory processes to ensure data is meticulously and promptly communicated.
- Uphold the highest standards of cleanliness, safety, and regulatory compliance within the laboratory.
- Collaborate seamlessly with team members to troubleshoot technical challenges and streamline lab workflows.
- Assist in data entry, analysis, and comprehensive documentation of experimental outcomes.
- Actively engage in team meetings, sharing project updates and innovative suggestions.
- Answer phone calls, emails, and voicemails.
- Keep track of processed orders, and notify supervisors of pending orders.
- Assist with organization tasks, including checking machines for maintenance scheduling, and maintaining spreadsheets, lists, logs, and equipment/supply inventory.
- Other various duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
- Education: High school diploma
- Preferred: Previous experience or education in a Clinical Laboratory setting, with exposure to PCR techniques.
- Preferred: Familiarity with laboratory equipment and instruments and exceptional pipetting skills for PCR reactions.
- Solid grasp of molecular biology principles, and PCR methodologies.
- Exceptional attention to detail, excellent organizational skills, and precise record-keeping abilities.
- Proficiency in accurately following and implementing SOPs.
- Effective communication skills, both written and verbal, and a demonstrated ability to collaborate harmoniously.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and data entry software.
- Commitment to upholding safety standards and maintaining a clean laboratory environment.
