Summary of Position
Provides short-term, culturally sensitive counseling and mental health services to enrolled students, specifically, student-athletes, including individual and group counseling, crisis intervention, and consultation (with appropriate release of information). Provides outreach and psychoeducation to the university community. Provides referral services as appropriate.
Position Information
Essential Functions and Responsibilities: Provides individual and group counseling to students, specifically, student-athletes.
Provides crisis response and assessment students. Provides crisis response as part of on-call rotation. Provides appropriate mental health assessments for students.
Maintains timely and comprehensive counseling records in an electronic health record database following Ohio licensure documentation guidelines and ethical standards.
Provides consultation to administrators, faculty, and staff with respect to student issues and mental health concerns, following Ohio licensure confidentiality guidelines.
Makes appropriate academic, career, and mental health referrals to the campus and/or the community.
Utilizes, maintains, and stays abreast of new technology, diagnostic criteria, and state rule and guideline changes that relate to mental health counseling.
Other Functions and Responsibilities: Attends and participates in staff development programs, department related meetings, and other university assemblies and committees.
Engages in professional development activities.
Maintains mandatory licensing requirements on an annual basis.
Responsive to work-related phone calls and emails during non-business hours on occasion.
Provides clinical and/or administrative supervision of Graduate Assistants, Trainees and Interns who are providing services at the Student Counseling Services.
Performs other related duties as assigned.
Equipment Operated: Computer and all other standard office equipment.
Work Schedule: Typically, Monday through Friday; evenings and weekends as necessary.
Supervision Exercised: Supervision is exercised over student employees.

Qualifications and Competencies
Required Certifications, Training, and/or Licensures: Must be licensed in the State of Ohio as mental health professional appropriate to degree and training by date of hire. Must become LPCC-S within 18 months of hire.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

Skill in: Use of office equipment; typing, data entry; computer operation; use of computer software and other programs applicable to the assigned department/division*.

Minimum Qualifications: At least a master's degree in counseling, social work, or an equivalent field from a discipline-accredited program. Licensed in State of Ohio as a mental health therapist with the ability to become LPCC-S within 18 months of hire. Previous experience working with college bound Emerging Adults who express mental health needs and concerns. Previous experience working with a range of culturally and ethnically diverse populations.
Preferred Qualifications: Currently licensed as an LPCC-S in State of Ohio. Demonstrated prior Clinical Experience within a university setting, including providing on-call and crisis response and previous experience in clinical supervision and training of Graduate students in Counseling. Experience with collegiate athletics as an employee and/or student-athlete. Demonstrated knowledge of current NCAA Mental Health Best Practices. Demonstrated experience and ability to provide relevant outreach and education to teams and department staff. Experience documenting all clinical encounters in an Electronic Health Record, especially Titanium. Experience working with outreach programs.
