Job Description:

GENERAL STATEMENT OF RESPONSIBILITIES:

The Clinical Technical Dental Assistant is responsible for the maintenance, disinfection, and sterilization of the Dental Hygiene clinic, radiology lab, dental materials lab, and surrounding areas. Inventory control and supply ordering will also be a major responsibility in this role.

EXAMPLES OF DUTIES:

  1. Disinfect clinic and laboratory surfaces.
  2. Perform weekly / monthly / quarterly maintenance of automatic processors.
  3. Flush all eye-wash stations weekly; monitor documentation of maintenance / flushing.
  4. Process and sterilize student instruments.
  5. Perform daily / weekly maintenance of autoclaves; monitor documentation of autoclave cleaning and spore testing.
  6. Maintain deionization unit / change filters.
  7. Inventory / restock supplies.
  8. Purge water lines once per semester.
  9. Inspect dental units weekly for problems or repairs; perform simple repairs of units; maintain schedule of equipment maintenance and repair.
  10. Monitor labeling in clinic.
  11. Maintain MSDS binders.
  12. Monitor documentation of O2 tank maintenance.
  13. Provide technical support for dental management software.
  14. Other duties as assigned.


Requirements:

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  1. Completion of a dental assisting program or equivalent experience. 
  2. One year of full-time, or equivalent part-time, experience working in a dental office. 
  3. Excellent infection prevention knowledge and skills.
  4. Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  5. Strong computer skills.
  6. Excellent organization skills.
  7. Excellent interpersonal skills with experience working as part of a team.

Additional Information:

COMPENSATION:  $23.00 per hour, up to 18 hours per week during Academic Year (late August - late December and mid-January - early June). Non-benefitted, Non-unit position.
